First off hello to you all,
Im thinking on buying this game(actually tied between this and gorasul)but wanted to know a few things:

1)my system:
Athlon 600
256 ram
Vodoo3 16mb
windows98

will this run the game i usually play in 800x600

2)This is more of a style of playing but in the game can the mouse be used to move or do you have to move via the keyboard

to those who respond thank you for your time.

Mouse is used for direction, but the act of walking/running is done by keyboard. There is an "action" key which some people have found bothersome, but I have gotten used to it. If you have any experience with keyboard games, you should be ok.

The game is very resource demanding. They say 16 is minimum, but I think 32mb video is closer to minimum if you want to get any kind of performance and look. (Others might disagree. Because I am not a PC expert, don't necessarily accept my claims)

From a personal "gaming" perspective, I've played and enjoyed this game more than any other game I've played. Ever. If you decide to get the other game, do leave room for Gothic.

Here is link to discusion (topic) about system requirements:

http://www.rpgdot.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?topic=1527&forum=2&7

Expiriences are very different. There are people who play it on slower system than yours (PII 350, Monster Fusion 16 MB), but people who reports big slowdowns on very quick systems.
Read it...
I personaly think, that you will be able to run this game in 800*600 and low details.
This is writen in readme:

---------
Voodoo3
Performance and some Texture Problems. [Driver 1.07.00]
---------

So your GPU will be bigest problem.

More about supported graphic card read here:

http://www.gothic.de/ (section support/faq/graphics)

This game use mouse very similar to first person action game. Fighting is also very similar, just interacting with world (using, picking up...) is different, but good described in readme and after some time very good for me...

Good luck

Remember that graphic cards have been updated...

I have no exact spec on Voodoo 3, but it was released the same time as TNT2 was.

TNT 2 can handle about 250 million instructions per second, while GeForce 3 Ti 500 can handle about 9500 million...

A card that is 38 times faster... well... Time to update?

Best Regards

My system was a Pentium 550, 512 meg ram, Voodoo3 and it ran the game but there were severe problems with slowdown at certain spots in the game. I upgraded to a 64 meg video card and everthing ran smoothly from there.
