AMD because they are much cheaper, better, more stable, and just as fast or faster than a pentium. and who wants to buy something that has strange blue guys in its commercials???

If you have enough money for P4(533) then its intel othervice AMD.

Currently the 533-serie p4's have more raw horsepower, never burn and run way cooler(no need for big and loud fan) than the same pricerange AMD chips.

The main advantage of AMD over Intel processor in performance + prices value. It mean with lower price AMD still try to maintain decent good performance compare to Pentium, which has always expensive.

The most recent Pentium 4 2.8 (probably up to 3 GHZ this Nov) for example is faster than any available Athlons in market, and AMD oly able to paper launch Athlon 2.8 this month. However the prices for Pentiums only for peoples with unlimited depth of wallet.

I suggest chose AMD, then take the money you save from it to get a best video card or other better quality hardware components to optimize the uses of your system potentials. This will avoid performaces bottleneck because certain parts run slower tham others. Lets say you have fastest processor, but that mean not much if you have slow video card or RAM.

It seem AMD got a lot of supporters nowadays.

All these ideas is for building a gaming systems. If you use PC only for word processing, surfing, or need a office PCs, there's no need for newest nVidia GF4's 8x Antialiasing or other top of the line hardwares.

My last Intel processor was a 486 25mhz SX, it might have been a DX, I can't really recall.

Ohh and goofy...err uhh Remus, you changing your nick is really weird, I didn't realize it was you until I thought about it.
