Kill the Ice Dragon, get 9Gs

Is this supposed to be like this?
I went to kill the ice dragon, Sylvio and Bullco 'followed' along. When I finished the dragon, they tried to jump me, I killed Sylvio but now:
If I beat Bullco and check him he has like 45 gps
If I let him beat me, then I get up and beat him, he'll have 9000 gps on him. First time this happened I only have 3500 on me so it wasnt my money he took...
Can anyone explain this?

Maybe its a bug

There was a money doubling bug in gothic 1, where if you let them beat you up and take your money, in the new camp, when you beat them up your money would double.

It could be the same bug. Doesnt work out exactly the same, but similar to that one.
