Green Campfire and torch smoke? |
|
Ok first off,
AMD Athlon 1800+
256 ddr 400
geforce 4 ti4200 8x agp
now, my problem is probably simple, but for the life of me, I can not figure out how to fix it. All the smoke in all the land is green. Why is this? and how do I resolve this problem. The game runs fine, but it really kills the feeling of being in the game when there is alien smoke. Thank you.

Sounds like a driver problem. Maybe you have to go back to an older detonator.
Is fogtable emulation activated on your driverīs D3D tab?
Try to disable fog in the gothic.ini. This is an old fix for Ati cards, but who knows. _________________ Webmaster GothicDot |

Ok, here is the deal, I have tried:
disabling fog tables
disabling aniscopic filtering
disabling FSAA
even disabling HO Primatives
but no change, however I have realized that if I play in 800x600x32 no green, above that all smoke becomes green. I have tried all detenators from 30.82 (one of the most stable) up to 43.45 (current and good dx9 compatiblity) and no change. If no one knows I guess that's fine, but I really wish I could play at 1024x768x32 because the textures just look so much smoother. Thank you for you help.

Now that you mention it - I had green smoke too (Athlon 1700, more RAM, another GeForce 4 Ti, 1024 resolution). I just didn't think much of it at the time. .. _________________ Jaz |

So, I take it you never resolved the issue then Jaz? Just out of curiosity, why do you think it does this? Would it be a driver issue, or is it the card itself? Thank you both for you input, I am glad to know it isn't just me.

I didn't try to solve the problem because I never saw it as one - all I thought was, 'Green smoke, funky.' There were no changings of resolutions, settings or anything else for me for that matter.
The way I see it the problem is driver related... mainly because most video problems are driver related. I'm not the hardware expert in our shop, just the game vendor. _________________ Jaz |

I know for sure we had people in this forum who played Gothic without a problem on a GeForce 4. You could try to search the forum for a working driver version or m/b, driver, OS combo. _________________ Webmaster GothicDot |

I had green smoke as well, I thought it was to make it more visible. _________________

My smoke was green. I just assumed it was for atmosphere in the game. Never had any other problems. _________________ =Member of the Nonflamers Guild=

I did also have green smoke too. And on both of my video cards, a Radeon 5000 I think is the one currently and before a Geforce 4 Ti4200, green smoke was there. In my opinion this case is closed- so many people see this smoke being green it's obviously something they put in or just couldn't fix. _________________ I'm pretty sure the Monk's Quest has died by now. |

I have the same problem... and I have a GeForce 2 with the latest driver.
It's very very strange... i had finish the entire game (first >2< time that I played it) with no sign of this problem.... then, without a reason (or maybe... a conflict with some other program? I really don't know), appears this bug. And it's very very annoying, trust me. IMHO, the game is unplayable in this condition, the feeling is 0.
I have even take a screenshot that show the problem... see the rock in front... it's blue.... and it should be dark gray.... :\
You see even the "green aura" that surround other objects... (the skeleton, for example).
