I think the Dark Engine is excellent! The Thief game were both excellent, System Shock 2 was cool too, but scary.
I hope Thief III won't be too different from Thief II, who is developing the third game? |

There's a media blackout on Thief III (if you happen to browse the Ion Stiorm forums ). We'll see what that might mean. _________________ Jaz |

I believe Ion Storm will be doing something similar to Thief 2. It should be a level based FPS, which is too bad.
The reason I say this is that back when Looking Glass Studios shut down, an upset developer spilled the beans on what Thief 3 would have been. He let it be know they were going to have a full city to explore with your thief, no more levels. It would be something similar to Morrowind, only on a much smaller scale that would represent a city. You could explore various buildings and rob whatever you found. The plot would begin as you explored the city and slowly build, but you could do odd jobs without the plot as well. Sounded pretty good to me. Still today, I feel sad for the loss of such a revolutionary game developer. _________________ Ha, Ha, Ha.... Oh, you were SERIOUS?

If thief III turns out to be like that description, I'd definately buy it the moment it is released.
However if it turns out to be like Thief II, I don't think I'll even try it. _________________ --

If it's even remotely resembling Thief II, it will be topping my 'Most Wanted' list, since Thief II was my favorite game ever.
Hm.
I guess it will be topping my 'Most Wanted' list no matter what. _________________ Jaz |

Yep, Thief II was one of the most perfect gaming experiences I've ever had. Truly remarkable. |

Totally agree Jaz and irritant. The only problem I had with Thief 2 was that I didn't really enjoy the woodland mission or the final mission as much as I did the others. Big improvment over Thief I though. The only missions I really enjoyed as much as Thief 2's in Dark Project were the first mission and Constantine's mansion. |

My only criticism of Thief II was it was boring to retrace your steps completely near the end when you were stealing all those artifacts. But it was SO much improved over the first Thief, which was already a fantastic game.
I particularly loved the submarine sequences. |

The woodland level stuff was about as annoying as the organic levels in System Shock II... the rest was exactly my cup of tea. _________________ Jaz |

Anybody know what the story line will be or not?
Are we still going in to play as Garret or ???
Any ideas? _________________ "The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again." (Robert Jordan - Wheel of Time) |

The extent of Warren's involvement with the THIEF franchise was pitching its originator, lead designer and lead programer Doug Church's idea to Eidos (he left LGS shortly after).

one thing that will be nice with deus ex 2 is they will have a light-meter al-la thief....although i personally think that it was kinda more realistic without one...but if your a modified human with cybernetic parts, it could just be a system upgrade... |

I REALLY can't wait for Thief 3. It is to me what DX2 and Doom 3 are to others. Thief gold was the first PC game i ever bought and after buying it i never looked back. I bought Thief 2 about a week after release (i couldn't afford it straight away becuase at the time i was about 14 and had very little money )
Im not sure if you have already seen this, or even if it has been posted around here, but this *could* be a screenie from Thief III:

Ah well, if it is Thief III id say it's looking shit hot so far |
