Skill Limit Question

Hi there,
i'm new here and i hav a question on skill limit in divine divinity.

If you reach the skill limit of 5 in a skill, say magic barrier or freeze or whatever, whats gonna happen when you hav equipment that gives bonus
for the same skill ??
Would the skill be raised to 6 ? Or would it remain at 5 ? Or worse- the skill
becomes bugged ?

Help me out here please

I never noticed a difference. So, I guess it doesn't go over 5.

ya after 5 it is just wasted unfortunately.

So dont push the skill up to 5 if there is possibly a boost it potion out there for it. For instance there are at least 2 lock pick skill ones....

Are you sure that isn't random? I played through the game without getting even one item or book bonus for lock pick, not even pickpocket.

Im sure its not random...

The potions that boost skills ( or were they books?) are placed certain places.

Lock pick I think there are two different ones in the thieves guild, or you get them from the thief master.

Oh, I've never got in to the thieves guild, on my non-corrupted save. I would rather not spend my sp on pickpocket and lockpick, so I waited to get a item that could increase my skills, but I never did
That's wierd I find it. First save, that were destroyed , I spend one sp in both of the skills, and I found several items to boost them up. I got all the way upto lvl 5 in pickpocket and lvl 3 in lockpicking. But when I started over again, and didn't spend sp in it I didn't find a single item in the whole game to increase those skills. Were I unlucky, or do the game give bonus skills in items after what my current skills are?
