This game is comming out here very soon and again, I'm not sure whether to buy it or not.

Ther reviews are quite mixed, so I think it would be very useful for me to know your ideas and experiences.

Thanks

I know that Something Awful can be very cynical but when something warrants a reivew by them... it must be exceptionally bad.

Hi Danicek, try the demo first.

Personally I'm not that impressed by that game. It's a try to make a Diablo2 game in science fiction environment. But in my opinion it's coming short in every detail compared to Diablo2.
So unless you really don't have anything else to do, or you can't get enough Diablo2 alike games (Even though they are worse) , I would not recommend to buy this unless you find it in a bargain bin.

I tried the demo and found it a nice time waster ... but I wouldn't have considered buying the game. It would either be too long, or the developement too slow. I found the ranged weapons to be underpowered and any path except that of a fighter appear to be too slow to be of any use. I can't recall the exact details, but your character's Intellegence (or some such) has to be insanely high to use any of the items that require IQ, where as the better melee weapons are accesible early on.

The graphics were spiffy if not cutting edge, and the demo ran quite cleanly. Again, I would not buy the game, but it was fun running through the demo.

I enjoyed it, but it´s of course easy not to like RA. Try the demo, it shows the weakest part of the game.

Thanks for info.

Currently I'm trying to choose which of these:
- Dungeon Lords
- RA
- The Bard's Tale

There's enough infou about DL and so I've started threads about RA and BT.

I always try a demo, when I'm not sure. Demo + reviews + opinions of people playing the game is all I need to choose carefully.

Yes I know. But I've already sold my Gothic 2 CDs. And I'm quite sure it needs original Gothic 2 game installed.

Oh my goodness ... looking at that list makes me weep ... is *that* truly the landscape of CRPG's?

Anyway, down to business ...

Here's a quote from the review of Restricted Area I have submitted for GamerDad: "Restricted Area joins Dungeon Lords in my ‘great idea, messy execution’ pile for the year. But while there is a better sense of completeness and polish in Restricted Area, Dungeon Lords is actually fun to play. Restricted Area suggests the Fallout games, but in execution is a very ordinary Diablo-styled action RPG. Fans looking for something interesting in that genre would be better served by playing Heretic Kingdoms: The Inquisition"

As for your other post on Bard's Tale, that is supposedly out here in the US, and I just checked and saw that one of my local EBGames has a copy, but I have heard very mediocre things about it. The last review I saw recommended using a gamepad as the controls are a pain. The demo left me very unimpressed ... and I'm going to choose to waste my $40 on a mediocre FPS for the PSP (Coded Arms) rather than yet another mediocre RPG for the PC ... at least this week.

Yes, it seems it is. I would gladly choose some more RPGish RPG. But I don't see any.

Shouldn´t it be dirt cheap by now?

btw., was a Czech language G2 release or was it English (with subtitles?).

What about Freedom Force 2?

No, it's not cheap. 899 Czk is nearly 30 euro. It's just a bit cheaper than in the begining.

It came out completely in English. Later everyone (at least at some shops) recieved CD with Czech localization. But I don't know what was localized (subtitles/voice). I hate localized versions :].

Good idea, I'll consider FF2.
