Yes, how to get the concert to play in Gothic. That's about it.

I wonder what´s all the fuss about. The release dates have been posted one month ago and nobody really cared. Now that a US retailer sends out a letter to calm down his customers people start losing their nerves.
oh yeah...
THAT?......
I sorta forgot about that.
I mean the head line says GERMAN date delayed.
So I didn't read it.
Because I thought it was Germanys problem. |

I was hoping that it would be out before the end of the year here in the US, but this year has been full of RPGs, more than I keep up with (college and work). I still have a lot of gaming to catch up on. From Planescape: Torment to Icewind Dale 2 and Gothic. They all await. Argh, and Divine Divinity too. I buy too many games for my own good. But of all the RPGs this year, I think Gothic 2 will probably be the best. _________________ Give me the shadows, shield me from the light, and I shall let nothing pass in the darkness of the night. |

As a final example, Icewind Dale 2 is due for release in the UK in November. Try figuring that out - a finished game from a major studio, released *everywhere* else, delayed by 2 months in the UK.
Just wait.
This is a good point - in the UK we are frequently upset that games come out in English on the other side of the pond, but we have to wait another 2 months or so for a european release. On the upside, the UK release is often much more bug-free.
But it's a free market, and with several online shops offering little or no shipping costs, there's no reason you should wait if you don't want to. Personally I still like to go into a shop and 'fondle' the box before I buy - there's something about having the game in your hands but still having
to wait to go home before you can play it :p |

USA delay is due to censorship of all violence and blood. |
|
Gothic was censored for blood and content, but you could re-enable them in the ini file. I think the over zealous " Do not want to offend a child." attiitude of political correctness has to make a toned down version for USA.
I am buying the UK since it probably will not be cen-scored for kids.
I thought freedom of speech was here in USA.
All sites I read have the ship dates pushed back.
Then again, what WTF do I know.
MAYBE the truth is that after everyone else beta-test the game and bugs are stamped out with patches, THEN it will be released in USA.. he...he... ...with no bugs and perfect. |

Wrong. More blood, more bikinis and less concerts than the German version. After some cheating, deleting and ini-editing everything was uncensored.
UK and US version were identical, afaik.
We´ll see if Gothic II has less bugs than Gothic´s release version had. Gothic 1.06 was unplayable. The English release had v1.08j. _________________ Webmaster GothicDot |

That is good to know. If it was to have alot of blood, violence and language, I as an adult would love it .
I liked the 'evil and nasty' RPG of Gothic. It was fun, like a real prison, with some good humor (Mud,the guy that keeps talking to you, wink wink).
If they need to, just make it so the ini file can be modified to enable it. That would get around the EULA hassle.
I am sure the UK and USA versions are the same; why make two versions for the same language English?
I guess it will be out when it is ready, so I think if it comes to UK first, I buy it there. I do not want to wait for 2 months for USA release. That is odd.
Just seen at amazon.com just now informed people that they are delaying the game until Jan 25, 2003. That is also posted from a customer on the forum at jowoods forum site. I do not know why the delay.
I guess just wait and see. Was the voice acting that bad? Probabley something to do with the translation or last minute bug to fix before another cd-rom gold master is made (expensive). Better to have the improved version, I think. Just play Gothic again as Mud for something fun to do....he is a real popular guy with the guards...notice Mud is the only one with access to the Castle where he runs to his mommy? _________________ Wo ist mein Sumpfkraut? |
