I read very recently that there are some financial wranglings about royalty payments between Black Isle/Bioware/Interplay and that the outcome of this would have a drastic impact upon the release of Never Winter Nights. It may not be.
It will be Never Never Winter Nights.
Anyone have more info on latest details.
If this game is cancelled...well........

...after 3 years in production, and telling people "yea, its coming, yea its coming" who wants to see it now anyway?
I've already written it off. Couldnt pay me to look at that game now. Engine is old as dirt, taking so long to make, even the makers prolly forgot the whole point of the game too

BioWare has just announced that NWN will be distributed by Infogames, and is still on schedule for release the first half of this year, I believe.

Check out the official forum for more details:

Hope that helps.

It won't be the engine or graphics that set NVN apart. It will be the ability to play D&D 3rd ed with anyone in the world.

Which, of course, will inevitably lead to such philosophical debates as 'How many ways can some 10 year old punk with a level 15 sorcerer 'own' you?'

HOWEVER, if you find a good group it could be a lot of fun. Personally, all my friends that I knew in Europe that are now scattered across north america and I are looking forward to Neverwinter so we can recreate our old D&D campaigns.

I hope it manages to come out. It will be interesting to see Bioware's first Diablo-like game.

I suspect with all the anticipation it will sell a LOT of copies on its first day on the shelves. But then, I think Vampire did too. If they make it relatively easy to use (unlike Vampire), then it will succeed.

I just hope it is all they claim it is. Because if they pull it off I know it will have a permanent residence on my hard drive.

Let's just hope the graphical engine isn't too dated by release. Not that a dedicated fan cares much about graphics... but more casual fans do. The more copies sold = the more work put into any sort of expansion (not that NWN needs one... that's the beauty. You ARE the expansion pack.)

i wanted nwn ever since i saw the demo on baldures gate throne of baal, it looked awsome, and i think it has something to do with bqaldures gate because in #1 drizzet (a charactor that you save from knolls) mentions he is on his way to never winter nights.

i think in most rpgs the engine is not the most important, but the storyline & gameplay are... ex. gothic, diablo

Storyline? Diablo? Isn't that an oxymoron?

No it is not oxymoron.
Diablo 1 and 2 had story. Story perfectly suitable for "pure action RPG". Story that catch me and force me to go and fight Diable and then Bhaal in LoD datadisk.
I like big, nonlinear..... games, but I sometime need to play something very linear, "fighting only"...

I hope It comes out, I've been waiting (not for 3 years). I'll be really disappointed if it gets cancelled.

Don't worry Gig. This game has too much hype, time and money put into it. They want a return on it. It will be released, most likely this summer.
