I hate to quibble, having enjoyed this game but....there was no end battle. I was expecting to have to battle the Sleeper, not his weakling minions, who all fell immediately. I was all geared up for the Big Battle, saved just before the last shrine, took a velocity potion and put all my big spells in quick access slots - and then there was nothing to do.
Now, I suck big time with the combat in this game. The only thing I know how to do is point and click - the finer points of combat are lost on me. Yet I found this to be just a bit too easy.
I guess next time I should up the difficulty.

I'm hoping that in Gothic 2 there will be a more interesting ending besides having the enemy disappear into a vortex. I guess it could have been worse though. |

I agree, the ending was rather annoying. I had hoped for a more epic battle, oh well. |

I agree I sumoned 5 golems and they went down and wiped everybody out then all I had to do was pierce the hearts. I thought it was a bit to easy. I also thought that about the Queen Minecrawler as well, a little to easy. We'll see if they change that in the next one. |

I don't think anyone, even the hardest of diehard gothic fans were happy with the ending... Fortunately, the experience from start to 99.999% finished more than made up for the lackluster ending

You know, the worst thing was - when I was near the game's end for the first time, a good friend of mine (unfortunately a fantasy author) had been watching all evening while I was playing. He saw the game for the first time then and was duly impressed.
Then came the ending.
I was unable to speak for at least two minutes (which is a rarity ) because I was so ashamed! Right, I felt guilty in the developers' stead, and I couldn't think of anything to say to my friend. He didn't say anything, either, but it was obvious that he wasn't pleased by the ending.
