Maybe not for you folks, who played the demo..
But for us who patiently wait for the full english version..
Aw, I agree with Srchbayne on this. I expect the feeling to be even better; but on a different basis this time |

I kinda agree with the topic...
Gothic is a great action ADVENTURE game with some primitive rpg functions. _________________ Like some bold seer in a trance;

I think Gothic is one of the best RPGs, I wouldn't go so far as to say it is the best though. Call me a blasphemous heathen if you wish. but I still think the Fallout series holds that title.
Gothic was definately a groundbreaking game, never in game have I seen NPCs so lifelike. I also really loved the atmosphere. The fact that you were in a prison was a pretty cool and original concept, and I loved that the fact that you always had to watch your back. Definately one of the immersive games I've ever played, and it remains one of my favorites.
I think it's only drawbacks are that it gets linear at the end, your character is forced into one camp, and there is only one ending. For some of you that might not be a big deal, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder. In an RPG I love to have alot of freedom, which is why the first half of the game is the funnest for me. I also like my character's actions to affect the outcome, although that doesn't really happen in Gothic. The end is the same whether you were good or evil, an Old Camper, New Camper or Sect loonie.
That is why I'd still rank the Fallout series higher on the list, with Gothic close behind. |

well on the nr 1 list is Gothic 1 and Gothic 2 cos i finished them both and i cant say that G2 is better than G1 cos many things like storyline and the barrier and all that prison feel was better in G1 than in G2 but in G2 there are very many new things u can find in game very many so they both are on the same stick hehe
now i am waiting really much the addon
(i finished G1 6 times and G2 2 times hehe) |
