You might want to have a look at two fan-made projects: Ultima Legacy and Ultima Iris. They are both in the RPGdot Database.

im really disappointed with them cancelling this. i got a free game and a promise to beta. so did u Kiff! and i was looking forward to the dense forests and the PvP duels.
