Nice machine, Sir Diety! Finally someone who has chances to play Gothic II with 20+ frames in town.

NForce2 sounds like a good choice. This chipset is the fastest AMD platform right now. Good manufacturers are Epox, Asus, MSI and a few more.
A small problem you should check it: Afaik the NForce2 requires <pairs</i> of DDR modules for full performance. So 3 doesnīt sound like the correct number. I donīt know how big the performance delta is. If itīs only 5-10% memory speed (= nothing in your game) you should ignore it.

The first generation SBLive! (until Audigy) had serious problems on AMD systems. Maybe Creative fixed the issues. The Audigy 2 is one of the best gamer sound cards out there. Iīm not sure the Hercules is better. You should give the card a chance. If you donīt have stability issues youīll have a fine card.

PB said Gothic II needs the fastest system available to run @1600*1200*32 with everything maxed out.

My machine isn't as good as SirDietys, but I hope Gothic II will run OK on it.
It has:
AMD Athlon XP 2000+
256 MB DDR RAM
Radeon 9000 Atlantis 128 MB DDR
DFI AD77 Infinity with KT400 chipset (a good motherboard, but not the best)

As you see, the only thing I need is more RAM, but I think I will buy more before APRIL

I was wondering if Gothic 2 will run with minimal graphics settings.

Specs

500MhZ PII (I know it sucks)
327 Mb of RAM (should be enough)
Windows ME
Geforce 2 64mb video card

Hopefully I will be able to play this extremely fun game. (from what I've seen.) I've played to Gothic I in every single way already and I am in need of something new.

The sound card is an Audigy2 platinum. Sorry for the confusion. To be more specific about my RAM... its two Corsair XMS3500 512MB sticks.

I actually took my new PC apart again and sent a couple things back. I found a place that offers life-time warranty.
**Always buy from the place that has the best warranty!

Once I have it built again and decide to stick with it, I'll return here and post all the system specifications in much detail.

... My new case is so beautiful! If they had a competition for the sexiest PC, mine would blow them all away!! It even has gold rims! (Ask if curious )
At night, its more fun to look at than a fish tank full of all kinds of tropical fish. (It does have water tubes w/bubbles and plenty of blue fluorescent lighting!!) Who needs a women when you have my PC??

P.S. Don't tell my girlfriend I said that...

Question requirements?

Look, I'm a huge fan of Gothic I, probably the best game I've ever played, and I've played a lot of them from every genre. Now, Gothic II is sure to take the lead, as I've been waiting impaciently for it for the past 2 months.

Anyway, my question is.......

Does a Pentium III at 866 Mhz with a GeForce 2MX video card and 512 Ram
satisfy it's requirements for a smooth play. If not, what am I suppose to buy?????

That plus 2.2 g's of free disk space should do it. At least that's what they tell me.

That's no problem.

So, I guess all i have to do now is wait. Sometimes I really wish I was a pacient guy...

From what I've seen, it'll be woth it, but till then

Oh, by the way, why don't we get any acrobatics in Gothic II, it was pretty fun!!

...and useful...
But the developers did fine when they tossed it out; imagine how possible it really is for you to jump with 20+ kilos on your back (arms and legs..).

The Gothic II german demo works fine on my system, some slight lag when in caves but atleast it works. Would a AMD 1.3GhZ processor make it run alot smoother? My view distance is 80% (it lags when I turn it up higher then 100%) If I put the new processor in, will I be able to go higher then 100%??? The texture bar is a little past the halfway mark so the armor, weapons, trees, etc... look much better then when I had it at minimum. (with no performance decrease!!!)

I upgraded my system and it must be good enough for gothic II
Athlon 1333Mhz (pure speed)
768 Mb DDRram
a 120 Gb 8Mb cache (+40 GB as a backup disk)
Geforce Ti4800

Now only the game

Well, as I posted in another thread, at medium settings, 160% viewing distance, 800x600x32, the demo runs very well on my old P3 600 w/ 256MB PC133 and G400MAX video card (on Win2K). The water looks ridiculous, but besides that it runs just like G1 and looks a lot better.

Thank you ghola, you have given me hope. I want to play the full game with my older system (some parts are new)

Well, folks I think I've finally gone overboard. I just built my own PC. It the best of the best. I built it all in anticipation of Gothic 2's release! It has:
- The new Athlon AMD +2800 prossessor.
- Three 512 DDR memory chips = 1.536GB.
- The new nVidia Geforce 4 Ti 4600 128 Video Card.
- Two massive 7200speed 120GB hard drives.
- Sound Blaster Live 2.
- The best motherboard out there, with the nVidia2 chipset.
- High tech surround sound speaker system.
- Bluetooth cordless laser mouse & keyboard.
- Beautiful Aliminum alloy case with 13 slots and mulitple USB ports on front and back, and Glass top and side panels with florecent blue lighting.
- Spiffy little water cooling system, makes for better cooling and great looks through the glass side panels.
- Windows XP on one hard drive.
- Windows 98 on other hard drive.

(The System is better than any alienware there is. It's designed to run any game for best possible performances.)

I only spent about 1,800 dollars. I lucked out and won a couple hardware peices... another story. Ask me if interested.

Let me know if you think it will work with Gothic 2.

Stop it, your making me drool.

Decide on which harddisk you want to install your games, then create a large and permanent swap file on the other disk.
