VDFS, moving it a problem? |
|
I took this advice from Gorath's FAQ (thanks Gorath). "If this happens every time you should replace [GOTHIC2]\System\Vdfs32e.exe with this updated version. If the problem isnīt solved move the file to another location."
Well, I downloaded it and replaced the file, and still the start-up took 5 minutes...so I moved the VDFS file. Now it starts up very quickly, I like that. But there has to be some trade-off here, why would PB release an updated version of the file if a good solution was to just move it? What negative effects should I know about now that I have moved my VDFS file, anything I should be aware of?

It might be a good idea to move it back after a crash. _________________ Webmaster GothicDot |

Thanks for the reply, I kind of suspected that since it said it should take a long time when starting for the first time or after a crash. Is this all I need to worry about? Is that all it does is build some sort of something that only need to be built one and after any crashes?
