RoseVixen, you make me sick.
Your 'concern' about Gothic's content is exactly that: YOURS. Yet you have decided to use your own personal concerns as jusification for limiting what others experience. Everyone has an opinion. Most people voice them. But only narrow-minded, selfish, and self-important people such as yourself attempt to make decisions that actually limit what others can see/hear/experience for themselves.
You live on a slippery slope. If everyone used their own personal offense to any given subject as justification for attempting to limit that subject, we'd live in a sterile, thought-legislated world where creativity and free expression did not exist. Of course, pompous morons such as yourself cannot see the big picture.

I'm sorry I make you sick and this is taking such a toll on you but tweeking the game a little bit to not have the women as slaves...that isn't such a big deal..now is it? |

If it's not such a big deal, why are your panties in a wad?

You dipshit...
I'm saying it's not such a big deal to change around the game in order to be fairer to the females in this game.
And my pnties aren't in a wad..it's you guys that are getting so sick and disgusted by it. I think it's really funny that all you are taking this so hard. LOL! You'll still have the same game-story, gorals, items..etc. in the game. No reason to worry Mushy dear.

It won't change.
Your opinions don't matter to the makers unless it's something beneficial to their style of game-making.
And, I assure you, your want for such restrictions/changes on a game that you have no part on aren't beneficial to them, so they won't be recognized.
Go back to playing The Sims.

Yes it is. The fact that you do not see that it is a big deal is a perfect example of how you do not see the big picture, and also a perfect indication of how dangerous individuals such as yourself are to creativity and freedom.
I'm not so concerned with whether Gothic 2 maintains the same role for women...it's just a game, after all. What concerns and angers me is when anyone, such as yourself, decides to go on a crusade for something he/she believes is important without realizing that it may not be important to others. Therefore, by attempting to change a creative endeavor according to your own ideals by enlisting major organizations such as NOW, you are attempting to bend someone else's creation to your own beliefs, no matter how noble.
Once again, everyone has their own beliefs. But people such as yourself who try and force their own beliefs on others in the name of 'doing what's right' are naive, ignorant, and yes, dangerous.
By the way, if you are so concerned about the values depicted in this game that you feel the need to protect all of us and our kids from these 'anti-women' images (since obviously none of us are capable of using our own judgement and need someone such as yourself to do it), why aren't you bothered by the killing in the game? Is that ok with you? I find killing offensive, but am smart enough to realize that this is a fictional game.
Heck, I wouldn't want my kids smoking dope as portrayed in the game, but I sure as hell am not going to use my own feelings to restrict what others can experience in the game. Doing that would be selfish. Which is exactly what you are.
Actually, you may not be selfish. You probably really believe you are doing something 'good' for mankind or something. If that is the case, you are simply clueless. You really don't see the big picture. |

Another perfect example of not seeing the picture:
"I'm saying it's not such a big deal to change around the game in order to be fairer to the females in this game."
Those of us who do see the big picture that anyone could say the same thing about anything.
For example:
"It's not such a big deal to eliminate just the weed smoking in the game..."
or
"It's not such a big deal to eliminate the killing and just have the characters go to sleep"
or
"It's not such a big deal to eliminate the thieving, since stealing is wrong"
or
"It's not such a big deal to change the swamp camp members to not be bald, since I am bald and take offense to being lumped into the same category as those wackos"
Do you get the big picture now? If everyone was like you, the game would be Pong. And this goes not only for games, but movies, music, and free creativity in general. That's the big picture, RoseVixen, and why people such as yourself upset people so much.

Well Mushy,
This will be beneficial to the game makers cause women will won't be offended if the role of the female is changed in the game, thus more women may be willing to play the game. Didn't think of that, huh dipshit? :smile:Also, changing the role of the game it would cause less controversy which would be a lot less troublesome for the game-makers.
ANd my opinions will matter (esp, if NOW gets involved)..cause as a woman I have the right to freedom of speech when it is infringing on my rights..even in a game.

You must be young. You obviously don't understand the concept of 'rights'.
In NO WAY is the game 'infringing' on your rights. That statement is outright laughable. |

Good topic.
Rose. If a teenager assumably gets sexist ideas from video games, it would indicate that he or she has other deeper issues.
Many people try to take the pornography industry to court for the very same reason. Gothic is not public, and the creators' target market was an adult one. Plus, it would be impossible to consider the game civilly or criminally responsible for what you fear might happen.
This isnt the Beavis and Butthead case (I hope you are all familiar with that case).
If the teenage "pigs" have sexist intentions, then thats their character flaw. As for adults with this attitude... just avoid them on the streets...
The posters here are just pushing your buttons and being sarcastic. Mabe 5% of them are genuine pervs.

Everything being siad in this forum will be recorded and taken note of when this is taken to NOW and the company who came out with this game.
Brilliant concept. Record statements of unknown people of unknown gender who are partly from unknown countries posted in a fan forum which has no connection to the developer.
All I can see right now is ONE woman (you!) trying to infringe the rights of the developers to create the game they want. Nobody forces you to play a game you consider chauvinistic.
Do you realize that youŽll actually help selling the game if you give them publicity?
Bad news is good news! Gothic is pretty unknown in the US. 10.000 more units sold will make a difference for them.
Gothic is available in the German speaking countries for almost a year. This small dose of chauvinism in the first part of the game was no big deal for the women who posted on the German fan forums.
I still donŽt understand what you want to gain with your intolerant behaviour. |

Exactly! Destructive criticism is like the cheapest and best fertilizer(BS) for marketing.
Look at what happened to Penny Bain when she complained about http://www.newgrounds.com .
The lawsuit was made a mockery of, her reputation was stained, and the object she wanted to destroy flourished!!!!!!
Its all interesting stuff...
