Since a lot of people want to know about these games, we have started a series of features which will showcase some of these games to the public. As we add more and more to the list, the first post will be updated with the links to the articles that deal with the games.
So here is the list:
Week #1 - Eternal Lands
Week #2 - Desta Online - Interview
Week #3 - Illarion
As we add to this list I hope that you will find what you are looking for. If you have suggestions about future profiles that we should make about some of the independant games out there, please send them at ekim@rpgdot.com

Lineage II is not, and will not be a free game. It's free now because it's in Open Beta phase, but once it's released (which should be within a few weeks) they will charge for it. The aim of the above list is to give a resource to players looking for FREE games made by INDEPENDANT game-makers, of which Lineage II is neither.

Erm... I don't know who's complaining, but Lineage II doesn't belong on the above list. Neither does WoW, Dragon Empires, DnL, or any other game in beta right now.

also try the free mmorpg Pristontale.
it has a very large world, and is sure worth a try. you can chose 2 races, with each 4 classes, which each has 3 different looks. there is a massive amount of Items, weapons and armors. and also very much creatures. you can learn very cool skills, and after every 10 levels, you can do a so called "rank-up" quest to learn new skills. after your first Rank-Up quest, you get a crown (looks different at every class) which changes a bit after every Rank-Up quest.

Realm Crafter. Well, it's not a free MMORPG, but it will let you make an MMORPG and offer it to players for free. I hope lots of people make lots of fun games with it and put up their own servers.
