Respawn without chapter change?!

Did PB change the way respawning works with DNDR?

I am still in chapter 1, and I am at level 14 now. I noticed that quite a few creatues have started to respawn (1 Goblin at the steps leading to Akil's farm, about 10 Scavengers at the Dead Harpy etc).

I thought the creatures werent supposed to spawn until a chapter change. But then again I have never stayed in Chaper 1 this long so maybe they also spawn after a certain time...

As far as I know, the only other spawnings that occurred within chapter 1 is by the process called triggering. For example: (1) the dragonsnapper appeared when you talked to Gaan. (2) the two militia at Bengar's when you took the quest from Torlof. (3) Attile when you talked to Kardif. (4) the beasts connected to Bartok's hunting quest.

These are all trigerred spawns, you trigger these at different stages during the chapter, but once you clear each trigger, they wont pop again until chapter change, some not even afer that. But, as was said, this is no 'real' respawn as such

I know of the trigger spawns, but I have never seen anything to this extent.

I have been playing the game quite a bit since my first post, and there are a LOT of creatures that have re-appeared. Rats, Scavengers, Mine Crawlers, Field Raiders, Goblins. They are all spread over the entire island.

It doesnt seem like a trigger spawn to me...

I am sure I noticed low-level monsters respawning sometimes, like wolves. I think I might have had plants respawn too. It doesn't happen a lot but it is noticable when I know I have carefully swept through a forest area and yet when I come back later (same chapter) more beasts or plants have appeared.

re: respawning

in Gothic 2, respawning is not a random thing. Unless you can state the place and the time( occasion), it is not easy to confirm. That said, I like to add another case of spawning(or respawning): (5) there are 5 field raiders appear on either side of the big (cave) rock near Onar's farm right after my char defeated Bulco.

When you just begin to play the game, it is quite easy to be lost among the numerous creatures and plants. Even Ellision made an error when he wrote that a new king sorrel appeared in the cemetery on the left of Sekob's farm at the beginning of chapter 2. The fact is that sorrel has been there since chapter 1.

Trust me, I did not miss them. I wiped out the entire island and went over the place with a fine tooth comb.

Most of the creatures that re-appeared were also not deep in a wooded area, they were on or near roads.

There was also a black wolf that appeared on the path to the monestary.

I don't know about the others but the black wolf is in Isgaroth's quest for novice.

I'm glad that some low-level creratures do respawn. This will give me a chance to gain more experience points.

Quite a bump there. To throw another idea into the mix, maybe there's another big spawn that's triggered by you coming back from the add-on world?

Be sure to go back to the Addon World in Chap 5 -- major respawning!

My character is now level 7 and still in chapter 1. I've not noticed any creatures respawning, but some plants do, especially the ones around the gates of Khorinnis.

Trust me. They *do* respawn.

Well, I guess it's kind of extrodinary that one goes to level 14 in chapter one. Maybe it's because NotR is a lot harder, but when I played Gothic, each of the times I finished it I went to chapter 2 with level 8 or 9.

A strange respawn I did notice was the appearance of a Black Wolf, while playing as a magician once. I don't recall any conversation which could have triggered this.
