Damn im weak

Ok.. my first character was a warrior/thief, had no problems with him, he kicks butt, but now i have started another character who seems unrealistically weak even at level 2, heres the info (mind you, im still fairly new to the game, highest character is level 7, but ive got lots of MMORPG experiences

this is my version of a battle mage
Breton
Custom
Level 2

HP 43
Magika 122
Fatigue 164

Int 61
WP 50
Agi 32
Speed 30
End 30

Luck 40

The Mage

Well thats just about all the stats, i wear an almost full set of steel plate armor, whats not steel plate is imperial steel plate, and i use an imperial shield w/ summoned long sword. The reason im asking if this is a bad combo or not, is because ive been wandering around this area to the east of Molag Amur, hunting Cliff Racers, they are fairly low levels, and im lucky to beat one in melee only combat, i sat and fought with one today for at least 6 minutes straight and only hit him 2 times out of probably 150-200 swings.. whats the deal here? even in eq a level 2 can hit a level 40 more than that..

Take a look at your long blade skill. Unless you've done some training or lots of practice, it's somewhere around 15. That equates to serious suckiness. Once your skill increases, you'll have much better results. Also, cliff racers aren't all that terribly easy to kill compared to lots of other types of wildlife. I'm guessing they've got 40 or 50 HP.

One more thing I just noticed-your agility score is pretty low. That means that you'll miss regularly, as you might have noticed...

Like with most diverse combos (mage/fighter covers a lot of groud) starting will be tough: You dont have much magicka (int*2 aint much), and your longblade/agility scores are horrible. However, when you start to improve, you'll see you really are a powerhouse, though it might take some time to get there.

Good luck.
