Correct, there are some beds outside the city but they are few and far between.

A lot of other rpgs have got "resting" option included, it's the only way of regenerating your health/mana (beside healing potions).

in gothic, there is no resting. you simply have to eat food, drink potions to regenerate your health/mana and this is perfectly ok with me.

@NeoCodex

Of course there is resting, just not in the wild. Once you start getting teleport runes it's no big deal going back to civilization to find a bed anyway.

Of course.

But I mainly use resting because of the day/night cycle.

Me to, I don't like playing when it's night because your view is very restricted then and a magic light or torch doesn't make to much difference.

I hate that you can't attack with a torch in your hand... And I don't use the light spell cause it costs mana, and I'm very miserly with that. So in the night, resting is pretty much my only option, cause all the npcs are gone, anyway, so that doesn't help. Oh, but I hate it when you get... Whatever that's called when you can't rest because of some evil influence, that can be deadly, especially near the end of the game.

well i agree with you that the spell that makes light is irritating and it dosent help you at all , i actually never use it . Tho why u need to hold the tourch in your hands when u fight ? just throw it down and fight near the tourch it gives u the same effect like you were holding it.

And for that sleepers curse there is a ring you know if u put it on they cant curse you anymore + you can buy some extra potionts for it to destroy the curse

Well, buying the potions cost money, and I'm not too liberal with that.
As for fighting, sure you jus drop it, but then, after moving away from it, you must go back and pick it up. This irritates me every time I do it, so I usually just sleep to avoid the annoyance.
