enterning the 6th circle of magic (spoilers)

...while i was replaying gothic, and Xardas raised me into the 6th circle of magic i also received from him the robe of the dark arts. is that supposed to happen, or is it some kind of bug? i don't remember this happening to me the last time i played it...

You probably had it every other time you went to circle 6, but you won't automatically put it on unless it's better on weapons than you already have. You are supposed to get it.
