Im still playing my 1st time around in Gothic but early on I saw that being all-in-one was going to be expensive so I wanted to know:
Is it better to train all Str and go sword or train all dex and go archer
Is sneak worth taking?
Is pickpocket worth taking?
How high can a char get? I made it to 23 and and have 100 base str and 2 circles of magic, but I think Im more than halfway through the game (just collected the Uulu-Muulu) and I dont see how I'll have enough exp to reach the final circles, any ideas?

Character normally achieve 30 - 35 level. But it really depends on your style. Gorath reported, that he achieved level 52 (without cheat or using bugs).
Bow is little bit easier, because you can get your enemies from distance or from places where they can not go.
So sword is (and it is just my impression) more difficult, but it is very useful when you want to someone knock to ground and rob (if you use bow, you will kill him and it is not good way).
I dont think, that snaking or pickpocketing is good place to invest your exp. points. Lockpicking is most useful. Then acrobatics give you some benefits and some fun (I learned just lockpicking).
Magic circles:
10 exp. p. - 1st
15 exp. p. - 2nd
20 exp. p. - 3rd
25 exp. p. - 4th
30 exp. p. - 5th (just estimeting, not achieved)
35 exp. p. - 6th (just estimeting, not achieved)
So if you know 2nd circle, you will need 110 exp. points to reach 6th circle. It means 11 levels. So if you will invest only in magic, you will probably reach highest mage ranks.

Well, the thief and hunter template I will do for fun after I've finished the game. Sword/Mage right now is nice.
So by what you are saying, I would have to camp Swamp Sharks and Trolls all day, then go to bed and start it up again to reach those high high levels...
