Hey there zuman,

Generally, provided that your pc-machine can meet at least, the minimum
spec' it should be o.k.

1. Minimum Requirements

GOTHIC needs at least:
Windows 98/2000
128 MB RAM
16 MB Video Card
Pentium 400 (and compatible)
1 GB HardDisk
DirectX Soundcard (e.g. Sound Blaster

this setup would just about be able to cope, obviously more ram would be better, but this type of spec' is getting outdated by todays technology.

So its not weather win/xp can handle Gothic, more, can you P.C?

Honestly You will need to buy yourself a new machine for christmas.

my observed Minimum spec.

P4 2,4
1 GIG RAM
80GIG Harddrive with 50 % free space (Performance kids...)
6800 Card, any will do...

a brand new system with this spec. should cost around 500 bucks... otherwise someone is making money on you...

What a load of crap. The game is years old and does not need nearly that level of system.

Thank you CIACinderella. As you can see Thuron, someone sane has replied and they actually thought it through and wrote a clear an informative post, rather than cross-post the same bold nonsense statement in multiple threads.

That's true!

Ok, official minimum requirements are really a bit low, so i am sceptical about it, but on 700MHz athlon with 256 RAM and geforce2MX it runs without problems. Under winXP even better than 98.

But G2 is a totaly different story!

Seems that the most important spec is the CPU, I have a 2.4Ghz and Gothic used to slow down a little with everything turned up. But turn it down a little and the game ran smooth as silk.

Just for the sake of random interest, I'm running Gothic 2 on Celeron 2 1400@1500, 512mb main memory, together with Radeon 9600XT, resolution set to 1280x1024x32. Although the system is not really anything I'd call 'modern', the game looks very good and I'm able to play it without any major slowdowns (except for the city of course, which gets somewhat jerky). Needless to say, viewing distance must be set to minimum though.

I know, I should get a new system..
