I saw a remark for problems in the apartments, an area right after the beginning of the game. Since I had the same problem and my system meets the req. (Cel 2 Ghz, Ati Radeon 8500 Pro, 1Mgb Ram) I left the game in my "Questionable Games" shelf. There was some reviews with 5/5 or 10/10 scores for KOTOR on game sites, but I taught the problem was with my Video Card (it is not the time for me to bye a new one) so does somebody can tell me is it a common problem, Ate problem or else?? Every movement in this section was messed up, I couldn't stop or worse?! I tried to lower the graphics specs. But nothing happened. So if it is a problem only here, in apartments, I can continue, but if not I’m afraid I have to wait for new Video Card.

Those of you with systems that just reach the minimum specs seems to be running Windows 98se. While those on higher-end systems seems to be running Win XP. Win XP is a resoure hog and as you can see from the system requirements, Win XP also has a higher requirement than Win 98se.

There are so many performance differences between 98Se and XP. In my opinion, Win XP is CPU and memory eater. For ex, with 256 mb ram on my Win98SE system, it can run many games without memory problems. Win XP has no advantages while playing games, so why would i install Win XP. I think a new and polished interface isn't enough to install new operating system. XP has no advantages, but also disadvantages that some good old games do not run properly with it, also it requires more CPU and memory.
If you have a system equal to or under 1 Ghz, do not install XP.

This is how I updated my drivers so you might try this.
Go to control panel and click on windows updates. Then click on driver updates and ADD the NVIDIA one. Mind you this is with windows xp and might be done differently on other systems.

wah it's been quite long since i last came over to rpgdot.

anyways, i've really been enjoying this game and imho, it really brings a breathe of fresh air to crpg. ok, my pc config is as follows :-

P3 933Mhz, 576mb SDRAM, 32mb GF2MX, i can play the game but have to really tone down the graphics detail to low-medium (shadow and grass off) and 800x600 to get playable results. however when i'm at a very congested area, the fps drops to 1-2 i think becos the character skips from place to place. so what did i do, i went and got a 128mb ATI 9600SE Radeon and now i'm enjoying the game 1024x768 and everthing at the highest (including shadows and grass on) and the game runs considerably smoother than before. and it looks tons better too. but u must install the 1.01 patch to get things up to par cos there's a lot of memory leak the game.

Hiya Spawnster, last time you were in Morrowind forums. About a year ago? .

KoTOR running smooth on my system. AMD 1Ghz, 512RAM, ATI Radeon 9600NP (this card needs you turn-off hardware mouse to avoid game crashing). Previously i used GF2 Pro - the game ran okay with some areas obviously slow down and skipping frames in 1024x768, 32bit color mode, no AA and AF.
