It doesn't work the way it used to. In Wiz 7 when you changed classes, your character slammed back down to level 1. As a result, you gained your first 7-8 levels very quickly. That's not the case anymore. You remain at the level your at.

I remember in Wiz 7, changing a character or 2, fighting a big huge battle with Dark Savants, getting between 150,000 and 200,000 exp points and my character(s) would level up to 7 or 8. And if I didn't get the points necessary to change back, exit, reload, try again.

I can't do that in this game. Bummer.
