Well oh well my friends, you were so so wrong, Jk II just released a patch for 3d surround sound with 3.0 a (audigy , extigy) support and Mouse and Joystick Force Feedback. So where is all those people that were saying you could never add 3d sound with a patch.....

If i'm not mistaken, 3d sound support was already in the game before the patch, but it was unsupported. U had to manually enable it through an 'ini' file.

heh, alot of people use to say that morrowind will never have 3d sound. Is there anway to change it in morrowind? cause it has no positional sound, i have surround speakers and i hear all the sounds in each speaker.

Sounds 3d to me. I have 5.1 speakers and sounds nice and surroundy to me..*shrugs*

Stand next to an NPC..turn to a side of him and have him speak..you will hear it in the appropriate speaker..

It doesn't to me, every sound i hear plays in all four speakers, i have everything set up right, i did the test , etc with the "front left, front right, etc" and all other games with 3d sound are sounding right.

What type of rig do you have. If my understanding is correct it seems a lot of MW's settings in the INI file are set automatically based on the system. Such as the lighting, in the INI file there is an on/off switch for the 2 types of lighting, but nowhere can you change it (except by editing the INI) which is why I believe so...

If your system is a older system maybe the game saw it as running better without 3d sound.

Of course this is just my guess =D

Hrm. Do you have the 3d Audio set on Low? Perhaps High and Low is equivalent of sorts to Off and On? Again just a guess.

I have tested out the 3D audio, and it has it. I use the Audigy card. And like Dungeon Siege, sometimes the positioning is a bit off. Sounds that seem to be coming right next to you are actually farther behind you, etc. But, 3D audio is definitely working. I have audio quality set to High, but I think positional audio even works when it is set to Low. But, I always wear headphones so I can hear EVERYTHING...

Clearly the audio isn't as sophisticated as other games, such as some have pointed out, your footsteps sound the same regardless the surface you are walking on. It is, overall, though, satisfying. My first experience with thunder almost knocked me out of my chair. It still does...

my specs are
Amd 1ghz
384 ram
sb live x gamer

i think its my sound card, but i'm building a new top of the line rig and adding a audigy so maybe that'll clear it up.

Yeah that will probably help, I just got done posting in a different topic about 5.1 and surround and how it worked perfectly.

I think 5.1 is awesome and not lacking from other games like you said..maybe it's just a card issue..who knows ;P
