Armor skills question

I've started again for the 5th time and I've stopped again. I have a problem with the armor skills. If you take them as your major/minor skills you can't control your level up any longer because you can't control the advacement in those skills. This is killing me. So the question is if you can live without any armor skill as major/minor and still raise one (your main armor) to reasonable levels. What do you people recomand?

Well in the begining it would be hard. But if you are playing for the 5th time it shouldn't be that bad. You shoudl already know how to get fast cash in the beggining so you can raise your armour skills by money, if you have problems with beating some of the enemies.
