Pirates of the Caribbean Good Movie? Good Game?

Hey all,

Pirates of the Caribbean came out with its trailer. Since Sea Dogs 2 is now the game of the movie, it might be interesting to take a look at it. Its starring Jonny Depp, which could be good or bad. I happen to like him, but his movies are hit or miss. But it doesn't look like a little kids movie. No, it reminds me more of the movie Legend of Zorro, in which Anthony Banderos revived sword fight movies. Kind of an old fashioned adventure film. I hope its good and the game is better.

Its a Disney movie! That means that both the movie and the game won't have any violence or blood... they ruined the game!

The movie is great. It's not serious like Master and Commander...but it is a kewel flick.

The game really sucks. It has nothing to do with the movie...which is cool. I knew it was Sea Dogs. But it plays like crap on the Xbox. Plus...my main reason for trying it was because I figured bethsoft could do no wrong...I am a Morrowind fanatic. I am glad I rented the game.

It has the lovely Keira Knightly in it. It can't possibly be a bad movie.

Pirates was a mixed bag. Maybe my wife and I expected too much. We were both disappointed with the movie. Too much hype and not enough action. We both thought the movie, on a scale of one-to-ten was a weak five. It could have been a good movie; too bad it wasn't

i was also dissappointed with it. a 5 is about what i'd give it too. and to be honest, keira knightley isn't anything special, she's just the "girl of the year"... she'll be replaced next year with another pretty face.

The movie was acceptable, but generally many peoples thought the game's just below average...

The movie was very entertaining... a lot better than I thought.
The game, on the other hand... not so good IMO.

I thought the movie was great. Then again, I love comedies.

And undead armies walking across the ocean floor.

Rarely do the two meet successfully.

I liked the film. Surprised myself, because I don't normally like popular comedies or Hollywood movies in general, but Pirates was great. There's one or two really cheesy one-liners, but not too many to spoil it, and there's some great jokes and the story's actually quite good. And Johnny Depp is hilarious.

Haven't played the game. I was kind of looking forward to Sea Dogs 2, as I remember reviews of Sea Dogs saying it was just a little way away from being a great game. So I hoped that Bethesda might be able to make those improvements (although I had my doubts when Morrowind didn't really improve on Daggerfall). But everything I've heard about SD2 is a bit on the negative side.

It doesn't sound like the Pirates license has really made any difference (good or bad) to the quality of the game... how does the game tie in with the film? Do the film's story or characters feature anywhere?
