Favorite modules

I have a new favorite. Some brilliant fellow made a module of the Lone Wolf books, and he plans an ongoing series. I would highly recommend this one for an excellent SP story-oriented module.

Also fun, but not as polished, is Candle in the Dark. It has some very nice gameplay dynamic, with a story reminiscent of Vampire Hunter D.

I will soon be trying the Penultima series, but I am very confident that it will be enjoyable.

I saw this in a movie about a bus that had to SPEED around a city, keeping its SPEED over fifty, and if its SPEED dropped, it would explode. I think it was called, "The Bus That Couldn't Slow Down."

Penultima series is great fun, provided you don't take it too seriously. Currently playing War of the Yellow Fang which is the most innovative I've seen.

It looks quite cool. I'm going to finish Lone Wolf 1 before I go for that one.

I'm playing the total conversion for Pool of Radiance... nostalgia combined with modern gameplay and technology = I love it. Cadora's as much of a bastard as I remember him being back in 87...

Did I mention that the Lone Wolf module comes with a hakpak that has CAPES? It's so damn cool! And it has the Kai abilities, and everything. It's a marvel.

Capes! I'll give it a go just for that.

The Yellow Fang module has multiple henchmen (and you can access their inventory), so there's some real enhancements going on out there. Put a number of these technologies together and it will be a completely different game.

EDIT - @Xen, I'd been planning to play POR but it's been sort of sliding down the ratings ladder a bit. I assume you recommend it?

If you enjoyed the original Pool of Radiance and want a taste of what that piece of crap POR2 should have looked like... yeah.

@Xen - I really enjoyed that module (Pool of Radiance).

I wonder if we could create a small data base of modules and our opinions of them. I have broached this before in these formums. I trust the opinion of the rest of you much more that the anonomous voting at the Vault.

I think a topic like this is probably about the closest thing we're going to get. I could make a poll, but that would do little.

Lintra, I'd love to see that sort of thing.

One of the overall problems that I see is that there are so many modules (which is a good thing), I have to use the NWVault ratings to decide on a module to play. Potentially this means we all miss modules that haven't had a chance to make an impact on the ratings while modules *already* in the Top 20 have more and more players ranking them.

It's not the Vaults fault (<sigh>, that sounds silly) but threads like this could play an important role in picking out a good module from all the background noise.

Well, itīs not a module, but I canīt understand how I managed to play NWN without the excellent Camera Hack v. F. Why this wasnīt in the game from the beginning is beyond me. And also, a little program that lets you disable the logo-movies that pop up every single time you start the game. I like the little things...

@Pinnen, I'm not clear on the benefit of the camera hacks - what's the deal?

I heard some of the camera hacks can be a little unstable and I've had enough trouble with MP as it is - how stable has it been?

Well, since I donīt play MP, I canīt tell you how stable it is. My entire NWN has nevre been stable, and I canīt say if the camerahack has turned it worst. The benefits are, that you can tilt the camera further down, thus allowing the view to be almost like Gothic, you can also increase the viewing depth, thus allowing you to see farther. So now you can run around with the camera right behind you at streetlevel, and actually *see* a larger part of the city. I love it! Downside is that they didnīt texture the sky/cielings/upper part of houses and trees, but this i can live with.
