what exactly does the player kit thing do? and do I not need the patch if Gothic does not crash for me?

The player kit enables you to a) extract files and b) play mods, among other things.
You don't need this patch if you don't have Radeon trouble. The English language version was already patched when released.

Exactly. Ignore both files if the game starts and runs stable.
You should rotate your save slots, just in case you encounter one of the few fatal bugs left.

yeah a long time ago I posted in regular colors, but then I changed to green  and it's great! my life has never been the same!  haha...
