I wish I could be one of you guys who find Morrowind awesome! I'd probably be a happier person. I'm just glad I found this place to vent my frustrations..

<br>I've set out on a mission in Morrowind to "colour" the entire map. (To get rid of all the black squares on the map.) While I was wandering through the dull scenery of Morrowind I was (as usual) daydreaming about the world of Gothic when I realized that Gothic "cheated" when it gave me that total feeling of freedom! I was actually abusing two bugs in the game constantly to be able to enjoy it as much as I did. The "press strafe left/right when falling from great heights" made it possible for me to explore every little inch of the world without having to worry about dying from falling. And to travel great distances I used the "wield and ready a weapon, train acrobatics and then jumpjumpjump" trick. That made me twice as fast as my (already fast) normal self. Guess that won't happen in Gothic 2..

<br>Kind of strange that two obvious bugs in one game gives it a huge advantage against another game in the genre.
<br>
<br>So far I've been surprised by Morrowind once. (well designed fishing shack) I guess the world designers had to spread their imagination thin over such a large world since it feels so empty and repetitive and confined despite its size. The biggest letdown for me was when I entered the Dwemer mines (one of the first main story quests) full of anticipation, and left it 15 minutes later (with the box in my cluttered inventory) with a lot of broken illusions. All those machines! All those missing cogs (spelling?)! All those leaking pipes! All this must amount to some spectacular hard-to-solve puzzle! Uh.. Right. Fight 15 cloned npc's, find the puzzle box in a.. box. Leave. That's it. And it never got any better than that.

I was dissapointed with that mine as well. I went to great lengths to access every part of that mine in search of a puzzle to solve, and found nothing but dead ends. The box was just there. Doom had more imagination than this. |

We all have opinions. I have been waiting huge, beatifull RPG with lots of things to do for ages. Morrowind is like that. Mathias loves a game that can be completed in a weekend, is extremely linear and has lots of other faults. But he likes it, good for him. I hated gothic, love Morrowind. One may argue that running takes fatigue, yeah?? In what kind of RPG you can run 24 hours straight not getting tired..hmmm. Morrowind has LOTS of faults, I just think there are pros WAY more. Things you like or dislike in Morrowind are different from Gothic. These are opinions. I am not right or wrong, neither is mr. Kreku. We like different things. I hope they make sequels for Morrowind and Gothic(is coming) this way we all get what we look for. |

Actually, I don't like linear games. I hate them. But I never felt that Gothic was that linear.. Maybe I'm stupid that way.. And this realism everyone's talking about.. Yeah, noone can run for 24 hours straight. Fatigue should run out. Whatever. I don't want a game where you have to go take a crap every 2 hours either.

<br>I'm glad people are enjoying Morrowind. The problem is that I'm not one of those people. But I am not trying to convince anyone to think like me. I am just venting.
<br>
<br>I'm not a powerplayer either. I could never complete Gothic in a weekend. But I have to say that I have spent a lot more time in Gothic than I have in Morowind and I have finished both games. Not sure what that means though. |

Just to say that I thought the having to slow down to a snails pace rather than keep running was very annoying to. I did consider using the editor to make things faster but it seemed kinda like cheating and I figured once I'd done that what next, health, magicka?

<br>Instead I got a a small soul gem for 300 pieces a fancy amulet for 30 then enchanted it so for 45 seconds I regain 3 stamina a second. Note that Enchant is neither a major or minor skill for me I just trained up in it a bit to 25 which did cost about 1000 pieces but I figured I could keep on making other enchanted stuff!

<br>Anyhow this solves the problem fine my stamina hardly goes down at all any more so I can just keep running! I figure when I have a bit more money Ill make another amulet the same or better then Ill never have to stop hehe!!!

Oh I forgot to say you can use the amulet loads of times on the row to and it regens all the time it really is cool! |

What more can I ask?
<br>More than 10 minutes spent advancing the in-game features in comparison to Daggerfall II 6 years ago would have been nice.

<br>Oh...and im not talking graphics. Even the world is a lot smaller (oh I forgot that its 'full of content'.

<br>Heheh dont make me laugh. 1st story dungeon - apparently complex dungeon with a puzzle to solve with cogs and broken machinary......YEAH RIGHT. You walk in ..kill 4 highly chalenging monsters(heh) and then pick up a rubix cube off a shelf.

<br>Highly charged and challenging stuff I can tell you.
<br>

Why is fighting a monster using yr shield skill to raise levels(as the game is designed) explaoiting?

<br>Seems to me it is practicing your fighting skills.
<br>
<br>Dont confuse peopel liek me who just play the game trhough its obvious deficienceis with those who 'explioit' (as u call it) by trying their best to get round the games SLLLLLLLLLOW speed by messing with the editor or plug ins. Cheers

<br>I still dont see the contradiction I make either. SImply point out that the game is weakly playtested. Good god. If they had only playtested for a few hours im sur ethey could have coded so that simply bypassing any little fighting challenge couldnt be overcome by stood there liek amuppet while u go downstairs and get food while u rais ein level.

<br>But that brings me back to my point. The game is weak as hell with little true playtesting to iron out the weaknesses.
<br>
<br>It is left to players to ignore problems in the game(unsder the pretnce of roleplaying).

<br>Poor development of a promising title is just a sign of the times with the software industry.

<br>I said you insulted my intelligence by telling me that blocking a rat for ten minutes to raise two levels isn't exploiting the game system. Put aside that what you said is abslutely impossible (that would mean you'd have to gain a point in blocking every thirty seconds by blocking a rat), it would be heavy exploiting. If you can't see that, it's not my problem. Once again, it's yours.

<br>Look, I played the press beta for app. 70 hours. I played the gold game for 140+ now. I have yet to see a single detailed and negative review of the game. Check our game database for all the reviews that have been published so far. The game balances perfectly well for me, offering me challenges galore. Granted, I didn't "block a rat for 10 minutes to gain two levels". If I had done so, I would have ruined the game for me. If you find it ok to do so, do it, but once again: don't complain afterwards.

<br>You say that the game is only enjoyable if you ignore the problems in it. I say it is only unenjoyable if you bloat them like you do.
<br>
<br>And since you know how much playtesting the game has received, I must assume you are Pete Hines' alter ego. Either that or just thinking that because you believe something it must be true.

<br>con of this game to be the generic NPC´s. People hint that this might be solved by the advent of mods. Would´nt there be lots of shitty mods around with really lame dialogue written by people who aren´t very experienced with that sort of things??? I dont mean to be rude or anything but I serously doubt that the quality of the mods will be up to standards... Id just like to know peoples opinion on this matter, do you guys believe in this way of making the NPC´s less generic?
