Well, if you say Deux Ex, then "System shock 2" pops right into my mind, no medieval either!
"Werewolf Apocalypse" may not be totally medieval free, but certainly not traditional medieval. |

1. The Werewolf computer game was going to be an action game, wasn't it?
2. It was cancelled, wasn't it? |

yup - Werewolf was more Action, and also cancelled.
Vampire - The Masquerade (50% medieval, 50% modern times)
Fallout 1 & 2
Arcanum ist half-modern as well

I'm not sure if you're only talking about games that are on the way or all games, but Jagged Alliance 2 is a strategy/rpg and is more modern times. I haven't played it yet, but I plan to some day. I assume Jagged Alliance 1 is the same way, but I haven't seen it for sale lately.
I picked up Zenfar last week and it looks like a sci-fi rpg. I haven't tried it yet either.
Anachronox is a sci-fi console style rpg.
Those are just off the top of my head. I'll try to think of some more.
Edit:
Planescape Torment. It's AD&D, but not medieval. I've heard many people say this is the best CRPG ever. I just recently started playing it, and it seems to be sort of rpg/adventure. I don't think it will be one of my favorites, but it seems to have a good story so far. Reminds me a little of the movie Memento.

Sorry, I did mix up the names between Werevolf Acopalypse, and Vampire masquerade. It was the last one I was trying to refer to.
Medieval is for me: Knight's in a shining armour fighting with swords in a world with inhabitants like goblins, trolls, wizards, dragons etc. So worlds from the years 12-16.century mixed with traditional fantasy.
Games like Might & Magic, BG1+2, Wizard & Warriors, Planescape, Arcanum will fall under this catagory eventhough some of them have a few elements from other worlds!
Anacronox is correctly no medieval CRPG game! |

Final Fantasy series, despite its name, is not set in a medieval world.

I didn't like it at first (I thought it was too juvenile), but Final Fantasy VII was pretty good. Although to me it a FPS, Deus Ex was also good.

anachronox was good. great grfx .funny story. combat was wierd, but not enough to put me off. it' a sci-fi rpg with gothic like controls. i have yet to dislike any game with 360o panorama and full camera control. i've played all the B G series, and they're all good, but the format is getting old and i don't get as immersed in the game as in u9, summoner, gothic, etc. can't wait for morrowind!
is deus x all that? i haven't played it yet. |

yes, but it is more of a clever shooter/sneaker than anything else. but if you like dark atmosphere and futuristic settings, Deus Ex is a winner.
I might also recommend System Shock 2, if you haven't played it yet.

I think thats why people complained about Final Fantasy VIII(saying that it was too modern). Personally I thought it was beautiful.
Thats why Squaresoft cowered back to its queer/sublime Japanese blend of old Europeein' medieval-fasioned/lost ancient technology.
That ship Ragnarock was the best godamn design for a hybrid rocket/jet.

Agreed, I liked the FF VIII, better because of the more mature looking characters. There was a lot of beautifull animations/cuts in this game. Why are they going back to these ridicolous looking out of proportion characters no one wants to be related to?

THank you!!
I even got into a fight with a friend over that issue.
I hated the cutesy ass style animation. I'm glad they did away with it in FFX and XI.
THe other thing I laugh at is Squares affixation with playing online.
If they do that I know its going to fail. There too many of those things.
