| best soundcard for morrowind? |
|
a friend of mine gave me his old soundcard (hercules game theater XP) and wondered if anyone had heard of it before?
is it worth keeping to play Morrowind with or buy a soundblaster live card to replace it? |

I WOULDNT REPLACE THE HERC CARD, THERE GOOD. I HAVE A TURTLE BEACHSANTA CRUZ (SAME CHIPSET) AND THEY RUNN ALL GAMES WELL PLUS HAVE BETTER SOUND QUALITY (I THINK) THAN THE SB LIVE CARDS. (SORRY FOR THE CAPS I'M AT WORK)

I agree - the game theatre is a better card than a SBLive. I'll never buy another Creative product. The SBLive series are IRQ pigs, and just won't run with some components. I don't recall a single game with EAX support that didn't make my SBLive crap it's pants from time to time. In three years I've had it stable for a total of three months. I've never seen a computer component that did such weird things to my system(s). Random reboots, bsod's, freezing out other components, crashing CD drives etc.
Unfortunately my Aureal Vortex 2 card is past it's use-by date, and since Creative bought (and buried) the tech, there will be no more driver updates.
So I'll just cross my fingers and hope the SBLive works ok with MW. |

The Hercules Game Theather Xp is an excellent card there is absolutly no need for a SB live.Its one of the best cards out there right now. |
