The problem with light armor is ...

My 18 level custom class has a major in light armor. I dont have problems with protection, but Med and Heavy armor are the only endurance skills. My hitpoints are only 93.

endurance

When I made my toon, I made his birthsign lady just for the END and PER. I figure that I will get my stealth guy max on speed and AGI and things like that but END and PERS I feel will be a slow mover. Because I am a dark elf with the Lady, I already have like 80 hitpoints at lv 6 because of a 65 end. It started out being a 7 point HP bump to 6 point HP bump. I don't know why it went down, but I will try and get my END to 70 then I will go back to maxing my other skills out. I figure when I want the END bump, I will just mess around witha spear, just for the multiplier in END and plan on doing that really quickly.

Light armour will be the best in the long run because of glass armor. On my first guy I made, I found a tower glass shielf that was a 122 armor rating because of my light armor skill. You can't tell me that light armor is not good. It is way better than medium armor (when you get the glass) and cheaper then the high-end heavy armor (I am working on acrobatics big time right now for strenth boost to carry more items.

The very best armor in the game is Daedric plate, but its really heavy.

Minor spoiler....

In Tel Fyr, on the very top level where Fyr is, there are some locked chests and stuff with some wicked gear. In one of those chests is a light armor breastpiece (or is it medium) which has a crazy def rating.

Also, if you go to Vivec, each of the house cantons has a Records place in the waistworks, and in the Records place you could go to the Vault, where they keep tons of exotic weapons and armor (a full set of glass armor in the Hlaalu vault, I think). Be prepared to fight (or run away from) a bunch of ordinators though, and the doors leading in have high level locks and are trapped.

tks for the tip

Tks for the tip on where to get glass armor, you know what I will be doing

I guess I better get my sneak and security maxed out now...hehe

Deadric armor is the best but glass armor is not far behind and considering it is light, it is thieves dream and should not need to worry about medium or heavy armor when they have glass armor to look forward too. stealth stick to light, you will be well rewarded, and just mess with spear if you want better endurance

What about us Medium armor users?

What about us Medium armor users? Are we left high and dry with our worthless skill? It originally seemed that Medium was a lot lighter than Heavy yet gave almost as much protection. I wonder if we have a top-end armor to match Glass armor.

The armorer in Balmara has a few pieces of 'Dreugh' medium armor that seem pretty great but are quite pricey. I'm sure that there's something around for everyone. I think you're misconceptualizing medium armor though - it's more like it weighs quite a bit less that heavy armor, but it protects quite a bit less as well. I mean, you don't get something for nothing. Medium armor does a great job of building up your hit points by giving you bonuses to Endurance, even the best light armor doesn't do that.

And remember that you can mix and match different armors - wear the heavy breastplate but light helm and shield, you can mix and match your own solution. I like to wear a few pieces and not others, then my Medium skill goes up but so does my unarmored.

One thing to note is that if you're a thief, agent, etc., and you're using heavy armor, you won't be as effective in battle since your heavy armor skill is likely to be quite low compared to your light armor skill.

I noticed this once when I was wandering through an area and I happened upon some baddies. I killed one before the others saw me. At the time I was wearing some kind of leather armor. When I looted her body, I found some iron armor or something. Definately heavy armor. So I put it on before I went to fight the other guys, figuring since now my armor rating was much better than before, I'd take less damage. Wrong. Since I didn't realise that my heavy armor skill was somewhere around 6 and my light armor skill (I'm an agent) was roughly 30. I got slaughtered over and over in short order, till I figured out what was going on. Then the tables turned and I cleaned up because I was taking much less damage even with worse armor, since my light skill was much more developed than my heavy skill.

The weight factor is, of course, another thing. If you're a barbarian or a knight or something, you've got lots of strength to carry stuff. Thieves, burglars, rogues, agents, etc. don't, so light armor makes it much easier to haul all that loot back to town.
