Well, regarding the risk, I'll carry the consequences like a man. But then that's easy for me to say, because the patch is a vast improvement here... :p

I played with it yesterday and got one error: after hours of playing I tried to load a saved game but the engine popped up a message that a certain sword item was not recognized after which the game exited. Relaunching G2 fixed the problem and the same saved game now loaded normally.

On the good side: The load time for saved games is faster, G2 startup is (in my case minutes!) faster and in-game graphics are more fluent. A real bonus is that the patch seems to have made my mercenary a slightly better swordsman.
Also we have some pretty wild thunder and lightning (atmospheric) effects now... I tried standing in the open field to see if I would get struck by lightning, but alas... Maybe in the next patch... that and umbrellas. :p

There's a whole lot of goodness in this patch. Great job, PB!

I had some freezing/crashing problems after installing the patch - so i reinstalled the game and finished it. I have recognized only a few minor bugs, no quest/game stoppers in the original version 1.28.
I suggest to wait until the patch is out of the BETA-phase.

It's running like a charm here. There will always be losers with crappy hardware who cannot run super duper high tech updates. :p

Two smileys. There, that should do it.

Seriously, if you want to play it safe, zip your saved games and nothing will keep you from a roll back to the retail version.

Waste of time? If it fixes bugs that screw up your game or improves performance or adds new features that make it better? OK, if you say so...

Personally the first thing I do when I install a game is check for a patch (some games already have one available the day of release), and if it's a game I play more than a week or so I follow the boards and check for patches regularly.

I installed the patch but didnīt try the game yet.
Better be careful. PB strongly advises to start a new game.

Okay, I tried the new patch. No problems so far. Feedback in the official forums is also very good. Less than 100 complaints.

Maybe this should be non-stickied. Since 1.30 final is out, it's sorta unnecessary.
