First person CRPGs.
I enjoy also some FP shooters. Just finished Far Cry and think that game is awesome. If it wasn't for the crappy save system.

My all time favorites: Ultima Underworld, Anvil of Dawn, Stonekeep, Daggerfall, Lands of Lore 2.

RPG rulezz especially the gothic series, my referential for all games now and maybe the complete opposite of gothic but no one can deny the importance of diablo on the rpg genre
I also love action adventures
some other greta games: thief, the lecagy of kain series and soulreaver 1 and 2
Beat em ups are great to play with friends

My first and greatest love is strategy games. I love a really good strategy game like nothing else. The problem is they are major time sucks! A CRPG can has a definate start and end. Most do not change significantly from one playing to the next (there are exceptions!!!).

But a good strategy game keeps me coming back for more and more and ...

I love setting long term plans and slowly watching them come to fruition. I feel like a chef at times, gently stirring the plan to keep it up to date with recent events ... then add the congac and flame if off (a war) then restructure my plans ... the having to engage emergency plan zeta-green 'cuz the dim bulb on the northern frontier have decided to declare war for no reason, the quick scramble to beat back the attack. The joy of going over to the counter attack. Nope. Nothing beats it...

except the occasional REALLY good CRPG *grin*

Gothic is my number 1 so RPG's are my favourite. Still I did not find other really good rpg's, so I'm not sure wheater the genre attractsme or not.
I think that all kinds of games have at least one good title among them, even sports.
Fifa 98 is IMHO a greate game.
Gran Tourismo is my favourite racing game.(just on the edge between sim and arcade and this from the first game till the third. -> hoping to play the fourth soon)
Wolfenstein 3D (yes the old one) is my favourite FPS.
'The Age of ' and so on are good strategy games. Although I did like Warcraft too.
Beat them ups: Streets of Rage on the Sega 16bit console. Teken3 on the PS.
Adventure: I don't know which games contain to this genre. (I know of Siberia, but only played the demo. Liked it, but not enough to purchase it.)

I generally don't like chess games, but one game (think it was battle chess) attracted me and reminded me of Star Wars episode 4. Sims ain't my thing neither. If I want to simulate sth, I do it for real and not in a game.(And no I do not play Manhunt, neither do I consider it a sim.)

I hated it, but ask another and he will tell you that it's one of the best RPG's ever. I mainly hated the scrolling trough the texts. That's what I liked about Gothic that everything was spoken..(even with the German voices which I can hardly understand)
