expectations too high ?

After reading some threads in this forum it seems that many fans have very high expectations on Gothic 2. That could produce disappointments, if Gothic 2 falls short of the fans high expectations.

As with Morrowind, personally... I'm taking measures to prevent that now.

Well, Gothic is a good game. And I think we can safely assume that Gothic II will be better in many areas. So I'm confident that Gothic II will be better than its predecessor. What I don't know is whether I'll like it more or less than Gothic, seeing how I like BG a little bit more than BG2 although it is definitely inferior.

@HiddenX
I owe you many thanks because thanks to one of your posts I learned about a nice game called Albion ( and where to get it ) which is so reminiscent of Ambermoon, one of my all-time favorites.
So, thanks alot
( And sorry for this little abuse of the thread )

I have medium expectations of G2: glitch-wise.

My only worry is that Gothic 2 may screw up my computer more than Gothic did... and Morrowind. It's just a game though. No biggy.

All German mags say Gothic II will be an evolutionary title. Many small improvements (for example graphics), most (if not all) mistakes from part 1 avoided.

I´m confident Gothic II will be a very good game. We´ll see if it has the spirit of it´s predecessor.

RobKob:

Albion is never off-topic, everyone should play this fantastic underdog.

---------------

i always try to limit my expectations for upcoming games, if a game is better than expected, i will be positively surprised.

i echo your sentiment...

We shouldn't start fantasizing G2 as something "earth shattering" CRPGs; it is unhealthy.

As long as EA doesn't acquire the Gothic Dev team, G2 should be a good game.

Perhaps EA want to release a Gothic sports sim.

In any case, I'd be happy enough if G2 was only just as good as Gothic. Even if it's nothing but a Gothic add-on, I'd be happy too. Just showing my expectation ain't that high. Any extras a bonus!
