Class changing and mixing potions

Hi. I'm playing Wizardry 8 for the first time and I started with
Samurai/ Ninja, but planning to change him into a Ranger when his stealth and critical strike skills are maxed out/ Gadgeteer/ Mage/ Bishop/ Rogue.
My Bishop started as Mage and I changed when i reached level 2. So he has access to the spellbook Alchemy and now my question: can a Bishop mix potions? And if he can, how? I've made the experience that a fighter who changed into a samurai at level 2 will not learn spells at level 5, but will he learn them at level 6? I wanted to have the awesome Dracon Breath, so I started with a Dracon Fighter, but when I realized that my class changed Samurai didn't learn spells I restarted the game. Thx for your help.

First off, welcome to the boards.

Now then, your fighter-to-sammy would have picked up spell casting on his next level. The sammy's spell ability is based on the number of samurai levels you've got, not total character levels.

Next, any character with alchemy ability can mix potions- ninjas, rangers, alchemists, and bishops. The types of potions you can mix are based on your alchemy skill. The "easiest" mixture is light heal + moderate heal = heavy heal, which requires a skill of 15. I can supply a more complete recipe list if you want, but I didn't want to give up a spoiler without a request.
