| fighting trolls, easier in gothic 2? |
|
There was this easy way of killing trolls in G2 wich was to come up close to the troll, hit him and striffe left, hit him and striffe right, etc etc. I could take out a troll even at level 6-7.
In Gothic its seems that the hit and striffe dont work. I have to let go of the mouse button to striffe, wich wasnt the case in G2. Is i just that im still not used to the control and lack timing?
Also why is it easier to kill warg and orc dogs up close with a bow? Some beasts tend to back off when you hit them and charge back. I sometime hit them like 10 times in a row and i cant take out any hitpoints.
I know i hit then cuz of the sound effects, so why no damage?
Im level 15 master of one-handed sword, i have a nice 47HP damage sword and cannot take any HP away from swampsharks. Whats up with that?
Thank god i had that chargeable fireball spell to kill the orc warrior in the orc cemetary cuz otherwise i woldnt have been able to.

In G1 you need to be really powerful to kill swampsharks and trolls with melee weapons. I think level 20 with 70 streght and a 70-damage weapon is more realistic to take one of these.
About orcd-g bashing (lots of animals have this little trick), you need to wait until they are very close, when they nearly bite you you can hit them. Also running around the beastie and hitting it's flank works.Point is their head is kinda invulnarable if they are not very close yo you. Normal wolves, shadowbeasts, snappers, razors they all have these hard heads

A troll can be killed easily when you are at lvl.1 (in gothic 2) just stay behind him and hit. They strife real slow. |

its not that hard to kill trolls in G1 .. it just takes a bit more skill from the player and time depending on you level

A troll can be easily killed in Gothic 1. Very easily killed. Shrink Monster Spell. Not only is there the one quest-scroll to do it when you have to, but you can buy Shrink Monster scrolls near the end. Very useful. Anyone tried it on the Sleeper? I wonder if it would be tiny?

Nothing works on him I think.
Swampsharks are very high, don't kill them before you get a quest to do so(and you will). At that point you will be between 25 and 30, and with 100 strength or so with a much better weapon than now.
Part of the challenge in Gothic is finding out what creatures you can fight, and what you can't. If you keep pumping points into strength you will be able to kill anything you have to kill to keep the story going, so don't worry if you find something too hard to fight - just come back for it later. |
