Framerate Stutter

After applying the following tweaks, I finally got rid of the frame rate stutter I was experiencing. I could kick myself for trying to adjust the resolution, as the stutter is back and I can't seem to get rid of it... Any suggestions?

The stutter shows up in not only the game, but also the intro scenes. It goes something like "frame, frame, frame, stutter" ad nauseum

Tweaks applied, running Windows XP Pro, GeForce DDR, 866
1. CD Hack
2. Morrowind.ini - switched to quadratic shadows, switched "dontthreadload",
3. Turned anti-aliasing completely off
4. Minimized background software
5. Doubled my virtual memory setting (512K)

Hm. Maybe you are low on conventional memory?

I had a bad stutter on my system and I found it went when I turned the acceleration off for my sound card.
