Same here. I stopped playing Mafia when I came to a boring (and damn difficult) mission. _________________

Shadowbane beta. I don't like the fact that it has a big emphasis on pvp(at least after lvl 20), but I don't have any other games to play I'm interested in at the moment. The character creation and development seems pretty cool though.
Eagerly awaiting Gothic 2. _________________ "Mr. Magee, don't make me angry. You wouldn't like me when I'm angry."

Arx Fatalis - honestly, drawing the magic "patterns" yourself was already moronic in 'Black and White', why did they think it would work better now? _________________ Like some bold seer in a trance;

Current status: Harbinger as a Culibine, Morrowind barebone with a new char, Freelancer demo (hopefully free version today) and Unreal 2 (not too good, I'd say). _________________ Rendelius

i also liked that part in arx as well...jest to think that you can summon creatures from the dead and from other dimensions or fry any who oppose you w/ a simple flip of the wrist ......

Harbinger demo
Just like the ad says, Diablo in space. Exact same core gameplay and controls='.'=
Well, sort of. Same control scheme exactly. tab brings up the automap, shift to stay put while you fire. Alt key even highlights loot on the ground! This was welcome to me, no new adjustment to controls! None of that stupid "stamina" tho that plagues so many newer games these days. Run all you want, you never get tired, yahoo='.'= The enemies were fun to fight, the rate of fire and how they track you varies so its a bit challenging especially when you have more than one firing at you at once. I play ranged chars most time when possible and i pride myself in barely ever getting hit. I got hit alot in Harbinger tho, the Ai's aiming is pretty good. Distance is thy friend in Harbinger, run out of range and know where the enemy is coming from and unload in that direction.
I like it. Id pay 30 bucks for it, and it looks fun to play multi with friends. My one big problem with the game thus far is the fact that it locked up my machine really hard once, i had to cut power to my machine, the dreaded last resort. Hopefully, this is just the demo speaking and the full version does not lock up like this.
I was kinda pissed that all the items i was finding too were not for my char class, but after some thought I realized this is standard fare for most loot-gathering type games. Once I went and sold all the stuff I couldnt use I bought a bitchen uber-rifle and was able to totally clobber everything after that so it was all good in the end. It is well-rendered in pleasant 2D, which I have come to appreciate. Nice tiles, nice quasi-machinery scattered all over the place, reminds me of the Brotherhood of Steel's base. _________________ “Then away out in the woods I heard that kind of a sound that a ghost makes when it wants to tell about something that's on its mind and can't make itself understood, and so can't rest easy in its grave, and has to go about that way every night grieving.”-Mark Twain |
