Wurm Online

Skill based 3D mmog in which everything is built by the players. It has pvp and you can build houses/towns. You must eat to survive. Gather food from forest, create a fishing rod and fish, etc. In near future it will have ability to build caves even. Also character animations are to be added. As a whole the game is more like a fantasy simulator than arena for monster-bashing (Allthough you can still hunt and kill game and there are dragons even I heard).

You can play the game free as long as you want. Only if you want to reach the best skill levels do you need to subscribe.

quote:

Wurm Online will be a community-centric fantasy MMORPG fully developed in Java. Gameplay will be free at first, but when you wish to develop your character beyond basic skills, you're going to have to pay a monthly fee.

The world will have a real economy with a fixed pool of money and resources, and almost all items in the world will be created by other players. When the game is first launched, it will pretty much just only be a huge forest, and it will be up to the players to build the towns and create the items needed for both everyday use and more exotic practices.
Wurm Online will neither have levels nor hitpoints. Instead, you have a set of skills that define your character, and a list of any unhealed wounds the character has.

Gameplay is expected to be very down to earth and community-based for most players, with each town serving as a small community. Towns will also remain safe as long as the computer controlled guards are alive. You won't be able to attack other players or perform any other illegal activity inside the town without first killing all the guards. Outside the towns, however, you can do anything you want, but performing illegal activities will lower your status in the nearby villages.

This game has great possibilities but they are far overshadowed by a few things. The developers are just a few Hobbiests, not professional developers. You will recieve comments like "MEH" and "There are plenty of other games for you" from them. TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL !! Another thing that ruins the game is the PvP where you are not given a choice if you want to partake and you can not enjoy the crafting, terraforming, construction side of the game without putting up with raids that not only set you back in your efforts but also in your stats if you are caught by the raiders and killed.

This game has so much potential. Hopefully a real company will see it and take on the ideas and develop it the way it deserves. Any fool can come up with a brilliant idea. But fools can not create it.

Try to see the developers point of view too. The devs who work on the game on their free time just got bored when people who play it for free complain its not finished. Of course its not finished, its beta! For this reason many developers prefer closed beta with.

What about GW? Off coarse you haev to buy the game, but Guild Wars has no monthly fee. I guess it can be considered a free MMO.

Thanks for all these free MMOs links...personally I prefer Guild War though.
To tell the trueth, Those screenshots of those other free MMOs that your provide are not so attactive. Maybe the financial problem cause it. Who know?
But, anyway, I support free games. just give some advise.
Cool screenshot get more players come to try the new game.
