This is my long time desktop. The pic is from September, but apart from some icons, nothing did change.

Very nice... Remus, what do you use for skinning? Jaz, that's a great pic, I guess that's one your own?

I'm going to contribute here, but it'll have to wait til after tomorrow - when I get my new 24" widescreen monitor

Um... my own? Not sure how you meant that.
It's a photo of a Fallschirmjäger I edited to fit my desktop needs. It's been in place for at least 1 1/2 years now, and I used to change my desktop quite often.

I didn't skin it but downloaded from ThemeXp, after replacing original uxtheme.dll with hacked uxtheme.dll.

BTW i have hard time finding unspoiled (edited or pasted with ads) version of classical paintings by monet, Leonardo, etc. Any idea where i can find website with such painting archive?...The pic below looks good except site ads at the upper right corner.

@Moriendor: that wallpaper looks good.

This is my desktop here at work. It's actually quite soothing really. When I get really stressed I minimize all windows for a few mins and chill out with Gandalf The Cat. I should prolly get a purring wav file to play at the same time, might actually enhance the effect!~

Silly me, I thought it was one of your pieces of artwork; my poor, mistreated eyes somehow didn't register that it's a photograph. The guy's face really reminds me of some of the stuff I've seen you post, if memory serves (including your current avatar).

Or perhaps I meant it was your very own Fallschirmjäger? Stranger things have happened (actually, maybe they haven't).

Aaaaah, I see now. Well, I take it this was exactly the reason why I liked the photo in the first place.

Believe it or not, I own 14 (or 15?) Fallschirmjäger... 12" action figures, however .

Pretty clean, I like it that way.

I did some more customizing and here is the result base on minimalist approach:

customized desktop

Skin: Cappucino skin (color theme), it has thinner taskbar than default desktop taskbar; softer and more comfortable feels to your eyes.

I'm not sure the shortcut icons on desktop is necessary as i think putting them on quicklauch bar is better (easy access, more focused compare to scattered nature of desktop icons eventhough you arranged them). Also, during multitasking or when opened several windows, it's a hassle to close them just to access to the desktop icons. Not with quicklaunch bar, it always on top on other windows when opened.

Anyone know how to make desktop icons to launch with single click instead of double click as with programs in quicklaunch bar?

There's a shot of my current desktop. I change my desktop often now. I got a digital camera last spring and I snap photos with it on almost a daily basis. This pic I took last week as I was leaving class.

That's a nice pic Val. I also like Jaz's desktop. Right now I'm sporting some fine VtM: Bloodlines wallpaper.
