Can't find the article I was reading last week on this, but it was interesting in that these new meds they were talking about were supposed to control both the ups and downs. Hang on, just found it. This article talks about Depakote, Lexapro, and Clonazepam. Does that mean anything to you? The person at the centre of the article sounds a little like you, but it's a much older man talking about his life. Creed C O'Hanlon!!

Hey man, lookit the birds; you're worth a thousand of 'em.

I don't know enough about skizophrenia to offer many comforting words, but you can always find solace in the knowledge that he's up there and only wants the best for you. There's a reason for everything. Different people have different challenges for different reasons. But it all works for the greater good. You just gotta trust in that.

Thanks guys/gal !!!

umm Depakote, Lexapro, and Clonazepam, i dunno. im on Welbutrin, Paxil, and the newest of the newestest, Iprifill (something like that). Im on good medication already. The thing is, my case is severe enough to be dominant even during heavy medicationings. I leave this stuff up to my psychiatrist anywayz, they know best. Now, if i WASNT on all these meds, i would be totally messed up. I mean, totally. If i was born in the medieval ages, i would have been burned at the stake for being a witch within age 14, heh.[/spoiler]

Depakote is a mood stabilizer for manic fits. Lexapro is used for GAD but I've seen it prescribed as an anti depressant. It's supposed to start working very quickly, 4 - 6 weeks as opposed to the usual 6 - 8. The generic name for Clonazepam is Klonopin, a benzodiazepine - a tranqulizer. I'm sure some of you are familiar with the name. It's usually used for panic, seizures, and/or phobias. Have to be careful with benzodiazepines though. It's difficult to become addicted to them but I've heard the withdrawal is worse than heroin.

Edit: I am not a medical doctor. It's advised to do your own research if curious of a specific prescribed chemical.

Thanks; that one sounds nasty, worse than heroin? i need to talk to my psychiatrist about them. She knows my meds but she also knows i go through a lot of changes constantly. Im messed up right now. I think its the drinking, i shouldnt drink so damn often. And people freak out because i am different when i drink, kinda stupid actually.

Well, it's difficult to say one drug is intrinsically worse than another. I've just heard that the withdrawal for benzodiazepines could be interpreted as worse than heroin withdrawal. But just as it's difficult to say one drug is worse than the other it's also difficult to apply that to the withdrawal process as everyone reacts differently. There's something called Protracted Benzodiazepine Withdrawal Syndrome. It's not very well understood from what I've read. More common forms of tranqulizers (and more commonly abused as well) are xanax and valium. It's good not to deny the positive things these medicines can do. It would seem the best thing to do if quitting them is to not stop abruptly but taper yourself off with progressively smaller doses. Talk to you doctor if you're really interested. Wellbutrin and paxil are not benzodiazepines. I've never heard of Iprifill, so I googled it and nothing came up. You might want to check your spelling.
