| Anonymous comments on newsbits and games enabled again |

Anonymous users can once again reply to newsbits and games comments. We have added a feature that requires an anonymous user to verify their comment by entering a set of letters and numbers from an image that is created in a random manner. This effectively makes it impossible for spam bots to spam our forums. |

I know many forum regulars dislike anonymous postings ("hey, I registered, so why shouldn't they!?"), but I think allowing casual visitors to post comments on news items makes the comments section richer and more interesting. |

I love posting comments here, but never really like to get too involved in communities because eventually it all boils down to ego matches and senseless bickering. I tried to get into the gothic forums here back when G1 came out and was thrown out on my ear. I think I made the mistake of comparing G1 to U7 and people thought I was commiting a sin. Who knows. I just know when I'm not welcome and try to be as nice as possible by avoiding the place completely.
Still, it's nice to post a few random "Hey, I love this game too" or "Yeah, that patch didn't do squat" comments. Thanks guys!!  |

While I'm sorry you had to manually edit hte Chinese Spam off the server the one benefit of having this disabled for the briefest tiem was the whole Cleve/RPGDot thread finally ended.
Thank you RPGDot for allowing this. I've heard feedback from developers at your site to my comments thanks to this feature. More sites should offer it. |
