Early game- 17k Value sword

(This may have been posted here before, but didn't see it on top two pages so here it is)

In Balmora (first town you would visit if you follow the story line), there is a nice sword you can easily steal. The weapon is called the Sword of Woe, is a one handed long blade with nice damage, and the effect of drain health when you hit.

If you need a good weapon this will get you started early, or if you need some coin its valued at 17k gold. The only problem here is you will probably get offered about 4k for it, and most merchants don't even have that much on them.

So, find a merchant that sells what you really need (full armor suit, full complement of spells/potions, etc etc) and trade this sword for it.

As for getting the sword itself, its in the top room of the 'Eastern Tower'. Fairly simple to find, East of the river, just look for the tall tower. Once inside, go upstairs to the top room. In this room is a guard, a table, and a dresser. The sword is on TOP of the dresser.

Getting the sword is a little tricky, but take your time. First of all save the game, since your gonna end up with a major fine for attempting to steal this item if caught. Now go on the far side of the room from the dresser, right beside the bed.

Hold down sneak button, and you should be out of sight of the guard. Walk toward the dresser slowly until you can open it (get the items out of here too). At this point you will need to step forward 2-3 more steps to reach the sword, but you will be close to in sight of the guard.

What I had to do was switch to 3rd person view, hold TAB to get camera control, pan the camera to see the top of the dresser. Step out once, right click to bring up your menus, and try to target the sword. If you cant target it, right click out of menus, step forward once, and repeat.

Hope this helps

::edit- wrong value put in::
