EverQuest 2: First Characters To Hit Subclass Status

Didn't know that 'EverQuest II' was all about some sort of race but SOE is officially congratulating the first players worldwide to hit level 20 (that's when you're able to create a subclass).

You see, online games are not made by game developers with imagination. They are made based on what is deemed profitable and popular. Getting levels, getting rich, getting nice items, making powerful fictional characters and getting recognition for these things on message boards is the present state of computer gaming. I challenge anyone to prove otherwise using solid examples.

Fully agree with you. It sort of surprises me that SOE actually posts stuff like this at the official site. They are usually not too happy with people who just rush through content so why make a big deal about the first people to hit level 20?
And -no- I'm not playing EQ2 so we can rule out any form of envy .
Anyway, you're definitely right with your assessment that online games have become very competitive.
I'm still playing SWG and it's quite pathetic how players boast about their in-game popularity or achievements on the forums.
It's happened to me more than once that I sent a /tell to a player in SWG to ask for a service his/her class might be able to offer and got a repy saying 'And you are who?'.
That's just plain disgusting... people thinking they are Elvis or something just because they post a lot on ONE forum out of almost 30 (in SWG's case) servers of a stupid online game and it makes them think they are something else. Pathetic...

Thats what you get when these types of games attract every 10 to 13 year old lonely,mis-understood,no real life friends kid who wants to show the world, even if its just cyber, that they are worth something. Now they can brag that they have accomplished something, even if it is only Sony that acknowledges that by putting their name up for all the other poor slobs to gawk at.I don't hate kids,I was once one too but they can be a pain in the ass sometimes and they make up the majority in mmorpgs now a days. One reason I prefer to solo these games as much as possible.
