How many of you finished or at least liked the single-player campaign? I know I did! But some people are saying that the single-player portion sucks! I don't know what's up with those people, but I think the single-player portion is fabulous!

I liked it. Decent voice acting, nice dialogue.

It was just more than a little bogged down by fed-ex missions. Act 2 played pretty much identically to act 1... go in four directions to retrieve four things, return to base to be told to go to next act.

Since it took 10 to 20 hours for those two acts it's a long time to be doing the exact same thing.

I think Xen caught the prime issue- having chapter 1 and chapter 2 with identical (and simplistic to boot) structure was a bad idea. Overall, though, I enjoyed the OC more than a lot of folks.

I played it to completion, but it was so bland I can't even remember who the final boss was.

I'm only in Chapter 2, but I aggree that it's better than Chapter 1. Though the final dungeon in Chapter 1 (Helm's Hold) was freakin' awesome!

I don't know, I guess I prefer the city rather than the outdoors in NWN. As I said before (in another thread), I like dark creepy dungeons infested with undead. Chapter 2 has had a very good undead encounter so far, however. The Tomb where the member of the Arcane Brotherhood is buried is the single best dungeon I have been through so far. Yes, it's that good!

In real life Ihate walking out of my room, but in Games, I like big open areas, full of sun, grass, and...

The Desert in SoU is quite good too (i live in a desert, and believe me, it is much worse that they draw it!)

Since the NWN OC is really just a collection of .mod's (one for each chapter) I think it's better to rate the mods individually. I'd give Chapter 1 (Neverwinter) an average rating (6/10), for example, but I might give Luskan (Chapter 3) a slightly higher rating. There were certain subquests in the OC which I thought were really well done. For example the Charwood quest in Chapter 2 (but I disliked everything else in that chapter). And in Chapter 4 the trial of the barbarian was very cool.

The problem is, the story taken as a whole isn't very coherent! There is nothing in chapter 1 which foreshadows what is to come in chapter 4. If they wanted they could replace chapter 1 with something completely different and people might not notice the difference. It's almost like they made up the story as they went along!

I think the development of the official campaign was poorly managed by the developer, although some sidequests were done well (testimony to the skill of the individual developer who constructed that quest...).
