OK I can now join each of the camps, I want to be a Warrior/Mage, I'm going to join the Old Camp, I spoke to Gomez and I havent committed, I just wanted to get into his area and have a poke around, I want to get Magic training and have been given a + 5 mana potion.
I'm level 10 with 23 skill points, I killed Bullitt (Stone is pissed off but he hasn't blamed me), Can I join as a Shadow or Guard AND be a Mage as well, Whats the best way of achieving these goals.
All suggestions welcome.

if you've joined the old camp as a shadow, and/or progessed onto guard or what eva, you can still learn magic from baal cadar if you did his little quest (wich i assume you have, since you got permission into swamp camp)

and soon enough you can learn magic from the other magicians around the place too.

Thanks RingWrath, what I was actually wondering though is...If I havent joined as a shadow/guard can I still learn magic in the Old Camp, Or do I have to join and be a shadow/guard *first*?

nah if you join the new camp for example (doesntmatter wich one) you will get the option of learning the circles of magic from Torrez (i think ) sooner or later

what i mean to say is,
no matter wich path you take, wich camp you join, wich guild you become, you will allways be able to learn magic 'and' fighting skills at any given moment...
from some one.. who ever they maybe.

Well is this is his first time around, the way you learn magic from one camp to the other differs slightly...as you'll soon find out

But if you decide to progress in the Old Camp, you will be Shadow, then guard or fire mage, not both...you can't have both titles. You will either be a fire mage that learns fighting skills on the side and wears a mage robe, or a guard that wears armor and learns magic later on if you so choose. But keep in mind: IMO to be an effective warrior you need lots of strength and weapon training asap, this leaves you with very litte skill points for mana and learning the magic circles. And the opposite is true as well if you become a mage. I just don't think it is practical to try and do both. But that's pretty much what all the templars do, so if you wanna, go for it.

yea, very true their..
its probibly best to become a fighter (guard) and learn a little bit of magic as you progress. Being a full mage is hard, and often frustrating.
Being a full fighter gets a little annoying when you want to cast a few spells for fun

BUT...the mages robes kick the gaurds armor's ass. Even the starter robe is better than heavy guard armor. Much smarter move to learn your combat skills first and fast (1h master, 2h master) after that, you can plug in str as needed. Its a better bet than to try and raise both (combat/mage) slowly at the same time then find out you have to make a choice of 1 or the other when you havent completed either yet (OC way, anyway)

oh true!
i forgot how powerfull the fire mage robe was, perhaps its best to join the 'Fire mage' guild and then learn fighting skills and magic on the side..
