I did intend it to be a "LotR Vs Harry Potter" thread. I just used Gandalf and Dumbledor because theyare both Wizards and also I think it sounds better than LotR Vs Harry Potter. Don't ask me why, I just think it does....

Maybe because you kinda hide the purpose a bit, so the people here had to find out by themselves that this was a LotR vs. Harry Potter thread. But I'm not taking any side in this because Belgarath would take them both.

Nah... Rincewind would own them all combined.

HA! Rincewind, don't make me laugh, even little Sam Gamgee would put up more of a fight than Rincewind.

You are all forgetting that I am an Istari, which is completely different from one of these later day "wiz(z)ards", i am the genuine article, not a cliche

Since the comparison of mighty wizards is on, I simply have to mention the one who would've owned both Gandalfs and Dumbledores behinds: Elminster Aumar, sage of Shadowdale and The Chosen of Mystra! (He's a Forgotten Realms charachter).
A bit hard to put them up against each other, though, since they all come from different realms with different magics.
A bit off topic here, I know....
Hmmm, you have a point Hexy, maybe I shouldn't rule out Rincewind just yet... He could prove to be a formidable force indeed!

Well... since we've opened up the scope of this argument, I will vote for the Prince-Who-Was-A-Thousand also known as The-Prince-Who-Was-A-Toad, from Zelazny's Creatures of Light and Darkness.

The prince has the ability to shift himself and anyone he cares to bring with him anywhere he can imagine ... and he has a VERY fertile imagination ... any fight against him is over before it began since he is also a master of time, a kind of useless power for him since he can shift himself and his oppenent to a place where time stands still for anyone but himself where natural laws are up to him to decide ... but it does mean the fight is over before it begins.

On a more serious note than my last post, what about Pug? He seems to pack quite a wallop.

I gotta go with "Q" now that the scope is widened.

Q?

Q?

Who the *bleep* is Q? Wasn't he the guy that outfitted James Bond with all his gadgets? Why is he in this discussion?

I don't think that he could do much damage, being dead and all

Q was someone from a galactic race of god-like creatures who enjoyed annyoing the Star Trek crew... I think in 'The Next Generation'... Could have been in Original also.

To cut my reasoning short: Q is omnipotent.

Sounds kinda like the Prince.

Okay, so those two are out of the running as being too silly to consider fighting against.

No one has responded to Pug. Is he that unknown, or is he just that out classed?
