Mimesis Online Closes

Blue's is pointing out the closure of Tannhauser Gate's 'Mimesis Online':
Mimesis Online has been a great journey that we started back in 1998. It was a very ambitious project and one of the first Massively Multiplayer Online Games set in a post-apocalyptic world. Mimesis Online was a pioneer in the genre in many ways.

The game was released in January 2002 and received some remarkable attention from the media and gaming community. Soon after the game's release it gathered a devoted base of fans and friends who have supported us through the post-release development and all the updates.

We would like to thank all the players for their suggestions, bug reports, involvement in the community building and the game forums, and foremost for staying with the game through all those years. We remain grateful.

We now feel it is time to use all the experience and technology to move to next projects. We hope you will be there when such are announced. For now watch for The Roots (PC/Xbox) and The Roots: Gates of Chaos (N-Gage) as both titles will be released in 2005.

Goodbye!
Read it here at the Mimesis Online site.

This almost made me cry. You have to feel sorry for the person who chose these words. "received remarkable attention?" The media tore Mimesis Online to pieces. All reviews were negative. The gaming community? They did not buy the game in remarkable numbers.

Is it never enough for you vultures? Yes they didnt make a very good game and everything you say there might be true but what purpose does it serve besides giving them a kick in the back after they gave up?

I want to thank them for trying to entertain us and i feel sorry the product didnt work out as they intented. I wish them all the best in future projects and i hope they will have less people criticising their work in a Kasavinian way meaning only negative unless you pay them.

But why should we pity them? They tried to jump on the bandwagon with a sub-standard (which is being nice) product, that was about as much fun as doing laundry. Sure they tried to fix it, but if the foundation is no good, it doesn't matter how many layers of paint you put on it.

They did have a decent backstory though, for what it's worth.
